Hi everyone, this forum was useful to me when haggling down sky so I thought I'd share my success story!
Cancelled 3 weeks or so ago, it was due to go through next Thursday. I was on the entertainment extra package and wanted it cheaper so I thought I'd play the game!
I didn't contact them (I did fill in a survey the emailed me), but just got a phone call this evening from them asking if there was "anything they could do to get me to reconsider". I told them my decision to cancel was based purely on price as I had "reviewed my budget and couldn't afford" the amount I was paying (already discounted at £22pm).
Long story short, he offered me a 50% discount which is what I was after in the 1st place, so I now have the entertainment extra+ package (extra HD and 3D channels!) for £13.50 per month!
Hang in there people, the offers are still out there.0 -
I should point out that my cancellation had not gone through, I was 3 weeks into my notice period. I gave notice of cancellation so they knew I was serious!0

There are some excellent deals to be had with sky. Their staff are pretty much told to do whatever it takes to keep a customer, after all keeping an existing customer is much cheaper than getting a new one.
I will be making the cancellation call tomorrow on behalf of my girlfriend who is spending way too much for what she needs. I will keep you all posted on my success.
My biggest gripe is how much extra multi-room costs, might see what I can get out of them there too.0 -
Yesterday I spoke with someone on online chat, and left making an order. I signed up for Entertainment Extra+ 50% off for 12 months and after some more haggling I also got Sky Go Extra at 50% for 12 months. I also took Broadband Unlimited and the telephone line, and have paid the telephone line cost upfront to say even more money (can't remember exactly)
Also, which might be interesting, I did sign up to Virgin Media last week - but when I received the contract I noticed the promotional period was incorrect. I simply could not get through to the right department for this to be changed, I was on hold for so long (over 15 mintues) so I cancelled my order. Check out TrustPilot for my review - horrific company to deal with.
Looking forward to Sky being installed in 2 weeks time!!0 -
Exactly It's this type of inconsistency that feeds threads such as this.
That's why it might seem "inconsistent" on threads like this.0 -
Got a flyer from Sky this morning for 75% off multiroom for 12 months, only thing is my 75% off runs out November and i have no intention of keeping it at full price.0

Still enjoying our 2nd 4 month completely free sky. We cancelled last August and got an offer at Xmas of 4 months free for all channels (SD only) so took it up, this ran up in April and we rang to cancel a month before. In the final week they rang up again offering another 4 months free which we took of course.
I can keep this up for ever if they do :-) But I guess it finished just before the new football season which is why they think I will be staying. However they can think again ;-)0 -
Anyone had any recent success with Virgin? We rang to give notice as its getting expensive and want to move but the chap in cancellations could offer us anything more than before of £5 off (9 years we've been a customer)
I must say he was quite rude. Got all defensive and moaned he wouldn't get paid as I'd said I'd already discussed discounts (several times) and basically spent most of the call interrupting me and lying about over providers services. First time I've encountered poor service with Virgin.2013 wins: Persil Bunny0
