I called today as I wanted a 2TB box and didn't want to pay £149 for one, which is the current offer for me. I have all channels, and HD, and pay almost £70 a month for it. I asked if I was still in contract or if I could cancel, they asked why I want to cancel so I said the BT box is bigger and they said they would see what they could do. I ended up with a 2TB box for £64 and a £6 per month reduction in my tariff so the box ends up free. Happy with that, as I think sky overall are good value with the on demand stuff and sky go0

I stayed with my present B/B supplers, I checked out many B/B deals and found they are all much the same, as for paying BT every month I was finding this rather expensive I now have my B/B with free calls, which I find so much better, having to pay BT every 3 months was getting to be so expensive,I was offered a deal with sky, but trying to phone them was so difficult, so stayed with my usual B/B providers.
As said I cut my cost of sky with sports channel. Just going to look for their offers each month.
Same with my Car Insurance, was so expensive and managed to cut the cost there "greatly"0 -
One other thing, it depends who you talk to at Sky, some are willing to offer deals, and some are not.0

It's not that some aren't willing to give you offers it's just that they do not have them. Cancelations have now got what they call STEP advisors. The sole purpose of these advisors is to try and save customers based on value, bonus features and customer service. So rather than just throwing offers on the account they're acctually tryng to find out why you want to cancel and solve this if they can.0 -
We've been with Sky for about 1 years and 2 months now. Our first offer was for a full 12 month contract which was half price for everything. Sports, Movies, Multiroom, HD etc and was paying about £40 a month. At the beginning of March we gave our 31 days notice and intended on finishing it but I called back the day before cut off and was told we could have the exact same package for £52 a month which I didn't think was bad but it was only for 3 months. In the meantime I've been considering Virgin. My partner has just phoned up this evening to give our 31 days notice again but she spoke to a nice fella who couldn't understand why we was offered a 3 month contract as said these didn't exist. However, immediately he offered us everything...Sports/Movies/Multiroom etc all for £38 a month which we obviously bit their hand off. So for the whole works including the entertainment extra as well, £38 is cheaper than what we was paying on the first half price deal.
So all in all, I'm quite pleased with what we've got now and don't have to mess around phoning up every couple of months to haggle a new deal.
It definitely helps if you get someone on the end of the phone who doesn't mess around and just cuts straight to the chase.0 -
Well, I cancelled Sky a month ago and last week received a flyer offering us 50% off everything for 12 months! Given we aren't really missing anything (well, the other half is missing the footy), we are going to wait a bit longer and see what they offer! I actually like having the money in my pocket instead!!0

Just to update this thread I cancelled SKY on Tuesday and received a call from customer services today (Thursday) to see if they could make me an offer to persuade me to stay with SKY.
The two options offered were:- Free 2tb box and a 25% discount for 12 months
- Keep existing box and a 50% discount for 12months
Our old box is not HD and we need a replacement that is compatible with our new HD TV.
I'd be happy with a new HD box and a 50% (or better) discount.
Any views as to what the best deal available may be??
Just to update this thread I have now taken out a new 12 months contract with a 50% discount together with :- A new 2 tb box at a cost of £49
- SKY multirom with a free HD SKY+ box plus free engineer installation (monthly cost £10.25)
Therefore my advice to anyone seeking a better deal is to follow through with the threat to cancel to enable you to get a far better retention offer.0 -
I telephoned Sky to cancel the football, and was offered a deal until August, the sky operator told me to keep looking for these offers, I pay only £5 per month for sky sports I could have received the movie chanel for £8 pm...So I have taken the offer of Sky Sports and my amount is much less.
I just got offered the same deal. But I really don't want sports over the summer. So it's effectively £13 for the movies.. hardly worth it considering it all shoots back up to £29 in august0 -

hi
did you have any discount code etc for this? I called and they said yes fine, all cancelled for you
I spoke to someone else a day or so later and they said they required a code for this, this was said after speaking to colleagues.
May actually go for good now0 -
