If you dont watch HD content then why not just drop it altogether rather than ask if there are any promotions on?

Didn't realise you could do this. Can't see any difference between normal TV and HD TV. Perhaps we need a new TV! :rotfl:

Remember that without the HD Pack you'll still get:

    BBC One HD
    BBC TWO HD
    ITV HD
    Channel 4 HD
    Channel 5 HD
    NHK World HD
    ARISE News HD
    RT HD
  • I have read the posts from people and some seem to have got a greatly reduced price. Mine story is not so successful and in fact I am now no longer with Sky so be a little cautious.

I have been with sky since 2004 and still had the old the white box but was paying in the region of £62 per month including sky sports.

I was fed up with not getting the on demand stuff and spoke to Sky on a couple of occasions. All I wanted was a new box, which they are giving away to new customers and some off my bill.

They finally offered me some off my monthly rental but had to pay for a new box or they wanted to give me a 2 TB box for free and then I had to pay £10.5 per month extra. I dont think they got my point that I wanted to be able to all the functionality and pay a fair price.

Consequently I am no longer with sky.

Well if they don't offer you something in the post then you can sign up as a new customer 12 months after you left and get a shiny new box and pay less. :)

I'm moving home as said earlier and was going to cancel and start again in my wife's name. Do new customers get better deals??

Depends what they're currently offering. Also, you can get 50% off for 12 months via Friends & Family offers, which usually run twice a year for a couple of months.

Are virgin offering any deals recently as there seem to be loads of Sky ones
  • We are currently with Virgin and have been for a year so the 12 month contract is now complete. We have a Tivo box and a normal (non recording) box upstairs which is rarely used. We also have Broad band and the telphone weekend only free calls. We have the full package of channels and watch sports but rarely use the movie channels but use many of the other channels. The month before last the bill was £113. My husband is not happy with this, understanably when we switched we were assured it would be cheaper than SKY but we have not found this to be the case. I rang just rang Virgin to see what they could offer today and they suggested that we lose the upstairs box altogether and cut out the move channels and the monthly cost will be £79.74 down from the ususal £95.74. He would not budge any furhter than this. I like the fact the Tivo can record three channels as we often have 3 recording at one time and this was not possible with SKY. Any advice from anyone. should we just continue and say we are leaving? Are they likely to offfer us a better deal or shall we just go back to SKY? If we do go ahead and cancel are they likely to chase us and offer more discounts? We have a smart TV but it is not connected to use the free view, what would we need for this?
    All advice welcome!

Just went through and can confirm this - was pretty easy.

I managed to get my line rental to half-price a few months ago when I rang to cancel to go to Tesco broadband. This is running out and Tesco broadband is still cheaper, has anyone had any experience of getting line rental discounts recently?

I have previously had line rental free for 12 months and when i took out the tv again i asked if any deals on B/B or line rental. I was told that to get any deals on line rental i would have to cancel my phone and re order it but would leave me 2 weeks without a phone line, no phone line no B/B.
When my 75% deal ends in November, i will phone and try again for a deal.
