Yeah, just ring them up and tell them you're moving out. Girlfriend then signs up for this offer once she 'moves in'. Make sure that you don;t pay from the same joined bank account and you'll be fine.
As I said earlier, the MSE codes are linked to postcodes so it will flag up at Sky that this is an existing customer applying. In order to "move out" Gaaraz would have to give a month's notice which will be too late to take advantage of the offer.0 -
To re-iterate what has already been mentioned.....hav details of a competitors offer on hand when calling Sky and quote the figures/prices to them. In doing this I`v found from experience that 60% of the time, it works everytime3.975 kWp System, South facing, 21 degree pitch, 15 x Canadian Solar Elps, Samil Inverter, location NE Scotland (Fraserburgh) Bring on the Sun :beer:0

I did loads of research a couple of days ago as I knew my reduced sky package was coming to an end and the last time I phoned and haggled they said that was the last time they would give me a discount. I was planning to phone at the weekend as cheaper rate calls and was going to add phone and broadband to help with the haggle however oddly I got an email before I had the chance to phone them saying my discounted package had ended but they were going to carry it on for another 3 months!! Never had that happen before :-)0

I used to work for NTL customer retentions before it became Virgin media. A good way of negotiating a deal is to see one elsewhere that you like and ask them to match it or threaten to leave. A good one at the moment if you like a simple TV package is a comparison to Talk Talks current Youview freeview box offering:
1 - M TV (a simple package, basically Freeview channels)
2 - 30MB broadband with a new super hub if you dont already have one.
3 - 150 Mins a month allowance to UK mobiles/0845/0870 numbers
4 - Unlimited calls to UK landlines at any time (calls less than 1 hour, then redial)
5 - 500GB Tivo box
6 - telephone line rental.
You can get this off Virgin for effectively £25.01 a month with customer retentions team.
How? Have ebilling, pay 1 year line rental up front with their call saver package (£120 a year = £10 a month). The install of Tivo you can haggle down to £25 from £50 too if you dont already have it, thats added to your next bill.
Having paid your line rental upfront, your monthly direct debit amount is only £15.01 a month for the above deal! I got this for me, my mum and my sister. (This price includes a £5 a month loyalty discount which is applied for two years, so dont forget to call back an negotiate again then before that discount runs out). You sign into a new 12 month contract by taking this retention package.
Hope thats useful in these money saving times!!

I wonder if you advise if I cancel the phone line and "freeview" tv will they come and collect the freeview box? I have the box in my bedroom as I have no aerial point in there
Thanks0 -
Currently paying £31.83 for M TV (Freeview), Line Rental, Unlimited calls to landlines, and 20mg BB.
Line rental £14.99
Package £16.44 (includes historical Loyalty bonus)
(apparently this is £8 for talk unlimited, £24.15 for BB, £14.99 Line rental) with discount of £15.74
Only need freeview box in bedroom as have no aerial in there and cannot get one due to living in a flat etc.
Have unlimited calls to landlines and mobiles on my O2 mobile. Rang today to try and get rid of phone line and they tried to baffle me with higher prices etc etc.
Much haggling including: £28.65 for BB only (yeah right) I then quoted there current £22.50 BB for new customers (with first three months for £17.50)
Finally was offered:
30mb BB
Tivo box (free installation)
M (freeview) TV
Anytime phone calls
150 minutes 0845 numbers
for £15.01 per month (paying £120 upfront for 12 months line rental) (12 month contract) - equates to £25.01 per month
or £21.65 per month for 30mb BB (12 month contract) would be adequate really but would like to keep the freeview service in bedroom due to no aerial but if they come to collect it would be snookered)
I said I would think about it.
Ideally I would just like two freeview boxes rather than a TIVO and the first deal above but they are saying I would have to pay £7 a month for an extra freeview box.
I said I will think about it, an engineer has been out to me today and said it sounds like I am paying too much; he said to go to the Virgin shop and tell them what I want as they can tell "Customer Retention" what I need.
May just do that
Any comments/tips greatly welcomed.0 -
Hi
Did you consider paying line rental upfront to say £5 a month? check my post i have just put up. Looks like £25 is what I should be paying for my services though - thanks0 -
Our contract was up we were very happy with our service but felt as services were going up and we were happy with our speed and channels ect that we just wanted to renew our contract at a cheaper rate. We phoned virgin they offered us only £10 cheaper than what we were paying already without all skys free little features (eg: caller id) we then called sky they renewed our contract after hearing we called virgin they offered
Everything were getting already + a new wireless thing and free line rental for a year at £26 a month and back dated to the begining of the month. We were paying close to £60 a month!
Happy days we only tried it because i get the fortnightly emails from MSE so thank you MSE team your genius's0 -
Update..just over a week after cancelling sky had a phone call today offering half price full package for a year or free for 6 months. Took the free for 6 months. Happy days.
As an aside I just feel its a shame to have to go through to cancellation to be getting an offer from them.
Would be better if there was a Loyalty scheme in place IMO .
If you took out a new 12 month contract, then 6 months free with 6 months full price is the same as 12 months half price.0 -
Apologies if this question is already on here but we are looking to leave BT and join Sky with the 50% deal but we would like to keep our @btinternet.com email addresses.
The lady at Sky thought there might be a charge for doing this. Has anyone else encountered this.
Any comments would be much appreciated.0 -
I dont think you can transfer your email address as it is linked to the ISP.
You would be better to get a generic one like gmail, etc. then you can switch providers as often as you want.0
