we are about to enter a DMP and have been told that the £72 a month we spend on SKY is to high, so I phoned this morning to see what they could do to help being a long standing customer of 10 years. Well nothin, the lady I spoke to looked at how we could change packages but no discount. After reading abit on here I got the courrage to call them back and cancel.
Guess what half price sky world for 6 months so package down to around £46 month..hubbly will be pleased....Money is the root of all evil! :eek:Give me yours and save yourself!!0 -
Hi all, (I hope Ive posted this in the right place)
HELP!
Ive been with VM for ages-currently paying £31 for tv, phone line and broadband. They have written to me saying the prices will increase. Sky have a similar offer for 30.75pm with more tv channels, evening and weekend calls and broadband.
I just want the basic stuff; is it worth me switching over or should I stay with VM?
Any help/advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
Personally I've found much better customer services with Virgin than Sky, so if the cost is pretty similar and the channels are quite similar then I would stay with Virgin. Could also be worth calling them and going through their Cancellations/Retentions team, they may be able to offer you a better deal than what you are currently paying.0 -
I have been a Sky customer for about 8-10 years and in the time never had any discounts.
What is the best way to approach them for a discount?
I currently pay them a small fortune each month (£91.75) for:
Sky+ HD
Multi-room x 2 (I x council sky and 1 x Sky+)
Full Sky package including Movies and Sports
ESPN
I phoned them up about 4/5 years ago asking if they had any offers for current customers and was told no, so have never bothered since then, but just recently discovered this thread.
Any advice would be appreciated.0 -

In a DMP ...AND YOU CAN STILL AFFORD £46 pm FOR SKY:eek:0 -
I just love acronyms!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Phoned the cancellations line and got a free Sky+ HD box & free installation.

Any suggestions on VM. I am on the ViP package with 4 boxes in total, one of which is HD+ the rest normal. I was paying £98 per month I am now paying £1080

I just rang and they called my bluff all the way. I said it was just too much for what it is & they kept trying to downgrade me...
I thought, well I can always uncancel or re-sign up in the future, so I held strong and cancelled. She then gave me some story about how sky are trying not "to offer deals i see on forums" and she was really doing the best she could...
hmmmmm.
Anyway, I have 31 days and then I may let it go to freeview for a bit until next seasons prem starts up again0 -

Why not cancel and use the £46 a month to pay off the debts that have made you need a DMP in the first place?! Sky is a luxury not a neccessity0 -
Called sky last night to cancel, im currently paying £39.75 per mth with sky sports, and getting the hd free for 12 months.
they offered me 6 months half price with no contract commitment for £19.87 but they said if i wanted the hd id have to pay the £10.25 per mth.
i decided to cancel especially as footy season comes to a close, im planning to get freesat recorder at least no subscription fees.
sky is a luxury and not a necesity, and with baby no 2 on the way in august wont have time to watch tv!
they said they could also offer me 25% off for 12 months instead0
