I phoned sky today just said I wanted to cancel, spoke to a nice lady who took details and said to keep you we can give you 25% off for a year or 50% off for 6 months. I took the 6 months offer.0

Im moving from the family home to my own place in a months time and will be getting sky. The monthly cost for hdtv with sports, broadband, talk with line rental is coming out at £73.75. Any idea of if there will be any possibilities of getting some discount off this?0

Just got a very nice deal
I'm not a master haggler but just had some very good fortune when I finally went for it and rang up Sky.
Got myself a free Sky+HD box with free installation at no extra monthly charge also with Sky+Anytime thrown in so I can download anything from their library like Lost, 24 and whatever else they have on there.
Just called and pressed the options to get through to the cancellations department, said I rang last week to enquire about upgrading to Sky+ and was told it would cost £99 plus £60 installation (this is true btw). Told the chap I had looked at Virgin's site and also Sky's own site and it looked like it would either appear to be cheaper to join Virgin or leave Sky and rejoin as a new customer. The chap said that was a misconception but asked a few security details and looked at my account. Said as I had been with them for 3 years and have my tv, phone and broadband with them, that as a valued customer he offered me the above things. I didn't really even do any haggling other than saying I was just looking to upgrade to Sky+ and didn't want any fancy HD packages (although he pointed out that all boxes are now HD). So yeah. I didn't go in all guns blazing demanding this and that, just said what I was enquiring about and said what I had seen in terms of deals. Perhaps I just got lucky but it has worked out more than perfectly. Not sure if it helped that the chap I spoke to supports the same football team as me but I guess it didn't hurt0 -
After paying another dd for £80 odd per month (top package) + £5 each month for unlimited anytime calls, I rang Sky, spoke to a very nice lady who said no need to pay the £5 a month and reduced my bills to £55 a month for the next 6 months. I wasn't at all pushy, and was delighted with the outcome. :j:j
She said i'm not in a contract and can review my package again in 6 months - happy days!0 -

Very decent of Sky to "throw in" something that's free0 -
Tbf, I didn't even know what it was. Tbf he didn't have to mention it and I will most likely never use it. Still couldn't be happier with what I got out of them anyway.0

Hi,
Can anyone advise me on my situtation..
my 12month is up on the 27th March. (£26 a month for all)
in order to cancel I have to give 1 month notice, which is this sunday...
I phoned them to see if they would continue the offer, they told me they cant check on the system until 1-2weeks before the contract ends...
so if I dont like there offer come this time then I would still get billed £62 for that next month... (cheeky !!!!!!s!!)
anyone else in same possition and what should I do?
hi, i was 'friends & family' Sky discount that was coming to an end March 31, i rang them up 2 days ago and said i wish to cancel as money is tight at the moment, she asked if we like what we watch on sky and would we like to stay if the price stays the same for the next 6 months , but couldnt include Hd which ' which was taken off' was another £10.50, but said we could add it any time if we wanted to, so i am still paying £20.50 a month for all the entertaiment programs and movies0 -

Hi thanks for your reply.
I'm on the same but it ends 27th March.
both told me about the 6month deal but couldn't include HD.
however... I'm paying £26 a month so how are you getting everything for £20.50? or do you not have sports?
I'd probably cancel myself until they do another HD offer, I don't see the point in paying £26 a month now for standard TV. I tend to only watch DAVE now anyway! so I'll get myself a Humax box with the money I'd save going for another year with Sky0 -
We are currently out of contract with VM and last night we had a Sky guy appear at the door.
OH invited him in as we have been unhappy with the way the VM bill has crept up.
He has signed up to go with Sky - which will cost £59.50 a month (about £10-£15 cheaper than VM) HOWEVER for this we will lose ESPN (which will cost an extra £9) and all the movie channels that we currently have as a loyality deal with VM. We will also lose a lot of channels that we dont watch all the time but do have programmes that we watch more than once a month. The only bonus is that the broadband will be 20mg rather than 10. We currently have talk unlimited and the sky package will be free evenings and weekend.
We have tried to haggle with VM in the past but have been told by them that they cant offer anything better than we currently have.
So I guess that weighing that all up I dont think that we will be any cheaper going with sky.
Does anyone think that the retention team at VM will offer us a good deal to stay? I have never left one company for the other. I am concerned that our tv is going to be changed over on tuesday - will they contact us before then or have we to stick with sky.0
