They said the same to me.

When they rang back to see why I cancelled I said, to be blunt its too expensive and I was told there were no deals when I called to cancel..... His reply was that it wasn't the case and he then did the 50% off.

There are deals out there if your prepared to put the cancel in and accept the fact that they may or may not offer you a retention discount. And you may be cut off if they don't.

I've also read on here that they only call once so if you miss the call that's it.

Nightmare! It would be just my luck to mîss the call!! I expect they call your home number too?

Welldone oli on getting your deal - let's home some more of us have luck too :)

    Hi

I got the Sky 50% off TV for 12 months, no contract call today, which I calmly and demurely bit his hand off for. I'm pleased. I cancelled about 2 weeks ago.

I was offered a lower reduction initially but when I said I'd have to think about it, he went off to "check with a manager" and came back with the 50% offer.

So, it is possible to still get this offer.

Hehe, this is so true... every time they call me back with the 50% off offers I always have such a smug grin on my face as I calmly say "ok, I think I can just about stretch to paying that much" :rotfl:

I stuck my cancellation notice in on 4th Feb, goes off on 8th March. Been with Sky since 1995 - was offered £4pm off to which I declined! Nothing else was offered.

In fairness, I have recently (3 months ago) come off a 25% 12 month deal but have got a bit fed up of the dross on show. However, my mrs is none too happy with me for doing it. Today I called up to double check my last day (to be sure for recordings) and wasn't offered anything.

Is it likely I'll get an offer or will this one run through to cancellation? I personally don't mind leaving but as I say, the mrs isn't happy - in view of that I would happily stay for a decent offer

That's a worry. My cancellation is due on 28th Feb and I had a call last night from an 0800 number which was Sky. It rang off as I answered the phone. Can anyone else confirm that they only ring once?
I cancelled as I was looking at having a Youview box via BT but if Sky give me a reasonable offer i'd probably stay with them.

Chances are you will only now receive mail shots enticing you to come back.
I wouldn't rely on any phone calls!

I cancelled $ky about a year ago, didn't receive any offers at the time but since then i have had numerous fliers ranging from 25% - 75% off, phone calls offering the full package free for 6 months with no tie in, all turned down as i've no interest in it.
Wife wants it back though and $ky phoned me 2 weeks ago offering the 50% off package again, told them to phone back and the next day they offered me the same and multi room for £2.50 per month, said if they could do me a deal on b/b and line rental, they could have my business back, but wouldn't budge as i had a previous deal on that before.
I phoned them back to get the 50% off and multi room deal and was told that there isn't a £2.50 muti room deal going, i told them to forget it, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. The 75% deal should be happening within the next 6 - 8 weeks, so will wait till then.

Yes, exactly the same thing happened to me when I cancelled a while back. I'd cancelled with no agenda of getting an offer, so I just ignored their letters-but they do come thick and fast once the cancellation actually takes effect.
  • I was wondering do they call your mobile or landline??
  • Have people been contacted on their landline number or on their mobile number? I would like to attempt the cancellation idea but I don't currently have a landline. Would they try to contact my mobile or would I not get the call?
