    Hi

I ordered sky+ with the 50% off codes released last week - just basic sky entertainment with a sky+ box.

Should be £10.75pm - but I just got my 1st bill for £20.50...full price.

I have been on the online live help chat for 45minutes and he says the code expired and there are no offers on my account.

I got the code in the 1st morning release of codes and used it straight away in the morning. It went through showing 50% off but I have no emails showing prices and they have no record of it!

He is emailing their "promotions" department but I am not hopeful - what should I do? Has anyone else had any issues with the code?

He also mentioned in live chat that my account said I had ordered it through a third party and not through Sky directly. I did order it on Sky.com but as I live in a tower block of flats with a communal dish - they used a third party installer. Has anyone else had an issue with this or anything similar?

    Thanks for any help!

The problem is very real. I have exactly the same problem. I live in a flat and had to accept a third party installer after my code being accepted and being shown the discounted price for the packet (I only ordered Entertainment Extra for £13.25 per month) priort to clicking the submit button. Afterwards got no confirmation of the price, the third party installer did his job and 48 hours later I had my first bill for £26.50!

I stayed for an hour on the live chat and with a very similar result. The adviser forwarded my problem to the investigation team and now I am waiting 48 hours before contacting them again (as this 'investigation team' cannot ring or send e-mails!). My impression is that they don't want to recognize these codes and that's why I'm in a hurry to clear the matter before the period in which I can cancel.

I'm waiting for a clear response from money saving expert as well. I couldn't read the terms and conditions before submitting the order on the sky webpage because they cannot be opened - probably non existent. So, will sky recognize the codes for people who live in flats and got tv installed through a third party or I just should cancel my subscription - which needs to be done this week!

Let me know what is the result of your haggling with sky, if there are other people affected, please come forward, I will keep you updated on the result in my case.

I didn't realise until today that Talk Talk offered Sky Sports.

OH thinks that he would die if we got rid of it. As we don't live in a Virgin area I didn't think I had another option.

Does any other provider offer Sky Sports?

Talk Talk would be slightly cheaper - I've been with them before & service was generallly OK.

I'll give Sky a call to see what's offered.

Well I take it back, despite the sky being adamant that there was no chance at all of any discount this time around they have rung and done us the 50% off deal for another 12 months on the TV, no tie in.

Wouldnt budge on the phone and BB, probably becuase we didnt put the cancellation in and intented to let the new company just take over the line, but to be honest the huge price reduction on the TV package means were happy to stick with them again for another year.

How long did you wait before they called?? I've just had to cancel as on SMP and despite this they would only offer £10 off when I pay over £100 a month for everything?

Just to warn you, we've been off sky since 5th Jan. Have not had any contact from sky since then.

To be honest not bothered though and have just invested in a freesat box as the sky box we were using for freesat from sky has just gone kaput.

The box will pay for itself in a couple of months and I ain't going begging to sky that's for sure but I'd still be open to offers. ;)

  • Just rang Sky to cancel, got offered 10% off for 12 months, refused and insisted they put the cancellation though.

Wouldn't it be great if more and more people did this and stuck two fingers up to Sky.

I just hope more people actually follow through with their cancellation threats.
  • I did in Januaray 2013, got cut of at the start of February and currently i'm relying on my trusty Humax Freesat box (Two minute job to swap over the cables on cut off day!). The only downside is that I have series 3 of Justified recorded on the Sky box I may have to abandon..... Looking to see if it is being aired on 5* any time soon. Might have to puchase the dvd.

To further compound Sky's lack of income from me, my telephone and broadband is up for renewal (April 2013) so I have a reminder in the phone to cancel awaiting to go off as well.
