Yes, used to be on a package deal with them, but got rid of the phone and internet as their service was over subscribed in our area and as such had poor latency.

Ah that's an impressive deal all things considered. I wonder whether they would be so generous with just a TV deal, given their position of not having as much control over the price of the premium sky channels

    I've just been on VM's website, gone on 'build package' as a new customer;

    TV XL, with Sky Sports
    2x 500gb Tivo boxes,
    £71 a month. £49.95 one-off installation fee.

So personally, as an existing customer on your current deal I would expect (after cancelling) to be offered something similair to the new customer offer but minus the installation fee and probably about £10 per month cheaper! Maybe one Tivo and your current box in another room and you could blag another £10 discount for the first 6 months. Obviously this is all just what I would expect so don't quote me on this.....

Let them make the first move as well regarding the offer, they might surprise you and offer you a better deal than you wanted/expected.
  • Hi everyone. I've been a VM customer for a few years now originally paying £33 for the L tv package and 10mb fibre optic bb, but now paying £39.50 for the same thing.

Phoned up Virgin the other day and spoke to a rather useless lady who offered the phone line saying itll give me a discount on the same package I have now plus TiVo, 30mb bb and super fast router added in for a total of £42.50! Bare in mind they were saying that 30mb BB was going to be upgraded for FREE when I spoke to them last year.

Now my maths must be a bit rusty but their new offer costs more than what Im originally paying. I told her what sky was offering and she kept putting me on hold to speak to her colleague and coming back with rubbish offers and sales pitch.

Since then I have taken the mse half price sky offer for 12 months with the entertainment extra package and broadband paying £31.50 pm. That's a saving of £8 pm on my current package and £10 pm saving on their "improved" package offer.

Just hope sky gives me no trouble.

Yes, but the new offer included a landline and TIVO which you didn't currently have. You've obviously decided you don't need a landline and TIVO, but your half-price offer with Sky only lasts for a limited time. What will you do when the offer expires? It will then cost you far more than you were paying with Virgin!
  • For anyone thinking of switching you have nothing to lose by using quidco or top cashback ,massive money back .

I switched from sky to virgin recently and got £161.50 cashback.

Was perfectly happy with sky but now i have switched i have to say the broadband knocks spots off the sky bb.

  • Hi Everyone,

I am moving into a new home next month and I have been looking at deals for whenI move in. I have a mobile phone so I don’t really need broadband or the linerental at the moment so I am looking at the TV packages.

Sky have offered me the Entertainment package and sky sports for £23.75 for6 months and then £47.50 thereafter plus a free sky plus box, install and a £25M&S voucher on a 12 month contract. I am told the sky sports can becancelled at any time if I do not wish to continue.

Any thoughts if you think this is a decent deal or if I might get a betterdeal elsewhere?

    Thanks

If you're moving to a cabled area, it might be worth checking out Virgin's offers-but do realise that they don't offer as many channels as Sky.

If you're a brand new customer it's worth comparing this deal against going via Topcashback. At present they're doing £101 cashback plus £25 M&S vouchers for signing up to Sky+.
  • Hi all, I put my cancellation in for sky and was due to leave 8-3. Got a call offering the package for 50% off for 12 months and not tied in. Very happy with the saving, keep the faith and wait for the call and I guess ultimately be prepared to switch if you don't get a call.
