Have I got this right please?

If I take the Sky Entertainment + package plus HD at the moment it will cost me £36 ish a month. However currently they are offering £100 M and S voucher and through TCP another £126 cash back on Sky+HD. Free HD box and installation.

So that would work out after cash back and voucher about £4 a week - is that right?

If so, it seems a decent deal - should I try to get half price rental for 6 months out of them too and are they likely to give it.

Also will the TCB cash back offer be valid if I do get the voucher and half price rental please anyone?

If you look on Topcashback (TCB) they are advertising half price broadband plus Sky+HD with £141 cashback, so you should be fine. Alternatively, if you go with your plan for TV at this stage, with £121 cashback, you could then go back as an existing customer to get the broadband with £45 cashback (but it is always a risk changing anything until you get your cashback). Remember cashback may not track or may take months to come through, and the voucher is only saving you money if you would normally shop in M&S (or you can switch spending there) so just be careful when you think you are paying £4 per month, it is only this much after all the cashback and vouchers come through.

Yes, it is a good deal!

  • i have pretty much most things sky has to offer tv wise, the top BB and phone package, do you think it's worth calling and being blunt, saying...
"it's getting too expensive, can you offer me anything to reduce the bill without changing my package?" or will they just say no?

Just wondering as I would rather not go down the road of "I want to cancel" etc due to not actually wanting to cancel then having to ring back a few days later and stopping them if they call my bluff.
  • I personally think the TCB and quidco deals for changing supplier offer far better value than some of the deals being taken on here to stay.

That depends, have you had discounts previously? If you have, it is less likely you will get anything. If not you have a chance. In my experience they are likely to discuss what you use with a view to reducing your package to save you money.
  • my Sky contract is due to end in a months time, if they don't give me a decent deal, would I be able to cancel then get my partner to sign up in her name as a new customer? So that we can get the cashback etc..

she has had Sky previously, but this was about 2-3 years ago.

    thanks

No as it would be the same address.
  • There goes that idea then! Thanks. Going to tell them I'm thinking of cancelling and see what they offer.

Hi, I currently have a virgin package of tv, broadband and telephone. It looks like i am tied into a 18 month contract. The tv is a xl package hd box with sports and one multiroom, weekend and evening calls and x amount of internet usage. we had the first 6 months for half price but My bill is now currently £90 a month which was fine until i got made redundant recently from my job. when explaining this to virgin they said that if i cut down on my deal it would void the current "special" deal therefore wouldnt be any cheaper.

If i could get some advice on this that would be much appreciated.

    Thank you
