  • I have been with SKY since 1990 and paying around £70 a month just for TV. I saw here on mse that there are lots of offers for new customers 50% etc so called to see if there are any offers for existing customers. I wasn't expecting the same offers that new customers get but did think there would be something. I was offered nothing except downgrade the package and remove HD and cancel multiroom. Seems SKY are just not willing to offer anything and would rather lose the custom. I cancelled everything anyway as i can live without it and i will save far more by doing so.
  • Phoned up Sky and said that I'm trying to cut down on bills, especially at this time of year. The lady said that I can reduce my package, I said no I don't want to. I didn't cancel anything but called back after 3 hours and spoke to a friendly gentleman, without any hesitation he offered me 25% off for one year and without having to sign up for a new contract. Just goes to show that it matters who is dealing with your call in retentions.

    Over £100 saved by a 5 min call. :T

    Cancelled Sky in February/March this year and they have since then bombarded me with deals. The latest one is 4 month free Sky TV, Movies & Sport which I am going to take up then cancel 31 days before it expires.

    Just rang sky again 3rd time to request to cancel, the very nice lady went through a lot of options but still could only give 1 offer not 2 or 3 and wasnt sure how multiple offers would work

    Im sure she did try (was talking for about 32 mins lol) but the only real offer she gave was the hd pack at half price nothing else lol

    +++Sky Deals For New Customers+++

    Alot of talk for existing customers you lucky gets! Heres a little something for new customers. Through my various discussions with the people at Sky.

    They can only apply one discount per item. So for example, they can discount you tv for 12 months, or they can discount your line rental for 12 months. It wont alow them to do both though.

    So you can ring up and they can give you the entire sky world package with HD, 3D for £32.50 per month. (then you add the cost of your line rental and BB)

    Or you can get the line rental half priced, however, this can only happen if you take HD package out with them.

    You can also get the tv with entertainment extra for 12 months discounted and they may even apply a credit varying between £20-£40 depending on the agent you talk to.

    There are no deals on just the phone and BB.

    The sky fibre broadband has 3 months half price offer anyway on the website so if you consider taking this out with the sky tv package make sure you mention that they apply the 3 months half price or else they wont do it.

    But if you are new, make sure you get one or the other discounted!!!!!

    If they say no, just hang up and try again!

    For the love of all people do NOT go about saying you read this on MSE or whatnot cos that is just stupid and that is what kills the deals.

    +++Sky Online Chat+++

    They can only offer 6 months discounted on whatever. The people on the phones can offer you alot more. THis should be basic knowledge anyway and apply's to all companies.
  • I've received the 4 months free offer too but am not going to bother. It would just mean that I would have to wait another 12 months after the 4 months is up before I would be eligible to be a new customer again. I only have a basic Sky box so only want a deal with a new box, will see what new customer offers there are around March time, cant say i'm missing Sky so happy to wait.

    Our 5 year old Sky + box is faulty (it keeps on freezing) - so I dug out an email from a year ago - which offered to fix/replace the box free of charge - I replied to it but was told that I had 2 options - pay £65 to get my faulty sky box fixed or leave sky ...
    Next - I was told that the price would be discounted to £15....
    I refuse to pay a penny for a piece of equipment that should work so - it looks as if it will be bye bye sky....
  • I've just come to the end of a 9 month subscription where I was only paying £1.80 a month for my phone/line rental/broadband and paying full for my tv. I'll be calling later today to see if there are any offers. Does anybody know, if I had to go through with cancelling, I'd need to keep my broadband and house phone, would I still get offers after disconnection to come back to tv?
  • BT Basic. This is a non starter as you do have to qualify which in fact I do. HOWEVER.... they give you line rental for £4.95 per month, do NOT include 4.50 of calls and then charge you the full whack for BB @ 17.80 and you cannot have any package of weekend calls etc. So in fact they give you nothing.
