I cancelled 3 weeks ago after being offered 25% off, my SKY is due to stop a week today, 6th December.
I have had no offerss, not letters, nothing from them.
If they dont offer anything, i am getting my OH to sign up with a 50% off code as a new customer, but ideally id like SKY to offer me the same so i can keep my saved stuff on the SKY box.
If i dont hear anything by Monday, i plan on ringing them and explaining the above, in a hope they just offer 5% off without the hassle of setting up a new connection etc
I believe that they have tightened up and the same household cannot take out a new package for 6 months (though how that works if you move into a house that had it with the previous residents sort of suggests it cannot be a hard line!).

I am looking at the Sky Special offer for a starter bundle at the moment of £21.50 per month with £100 M & S vouchers free (although this offer finishes today). Just wondered as I have my phone line with BT (fixed 12 months contract with anytime calls), whether the Sky bundle can be bought just for BB/TV without the calls element and if there is any discount for that ?
Also what is the likely cost after the discount period ? Tried their chat line but it is unavailable. We are with Virgin at the moment for TV/BB (both "L") and pay £36.50 (this includes discount of £7). We do not want to end up with a more expensive package than we have at the moment.0 -

So the SKY offer (£100 M&S Vouchers) finishes today........ A Day before the Virgin offers finishes..... Interesting! Virgin still getting my call tomorrow as no offer from SKY yet....0 -
It was a waste of time going to Sky, they told me I would have to pay line rental for the BB when I am already under contract to BT for my phone line for a year. So they would expect me to pay for line rental from them when I am already paying BT so I said to them "that means that no one can get that bundle for £21.50 all in then and she said no ! " What a bunch of liars.0

Forgot to add, she said the bundle would cost £36 - £21.50 plus £14.50 for the line rental. As I am already paying £36.50 from Virgin I think I will give them a miss.;)0 -
Be careful when downgrading to the Entertainment package. They tried to put me on the £5 more expensive Entertainment Plus package. Before you call to downgrade I'd recommend knowing the price you should pay.
It's not always easy as if you add anything else (like HD) then the price of one product gets hidden.0 -
Just thought I would share something with the forum
My Experience of SKYs retention dept seems different to those of a lot of people here.
Have been with SKY over 20 Yrs (I joined when they acquired the Premier League football as I recall)
I have recently been having BB problems with AOL
And thought I would look into moving everything to isame provider (Phone, BB and TV)
I currently pay approx £97 per month £65 for SKY's full package + 15 phone and 17 for AOL And I knew there were cheaper deals out there!
Contacted Virgin and they offered a fantastic deal which basically gave me what I wanted + the 1TB box and another box for upstairs all this for free Including all installations and at about £10 per month cheaper than SKY could do for everything + Virgin included FIbre optic and of course SKY would want even more per month if I included FO In my package.
When I talked to SKY they were almost resigned to the fact that he knew that they could not compete with anything near to the offer from Virgin.
SKY wanted to charge £50 for a new 1TB box + another £50 to install it + obviously another installation fee to move my existing box upstairs. Oh and let's not forget. The extra £10 month multi room charge of course!
Apart from finally agreeing to knock of one of the installation fees and discounting the MR fee that was as good as it got!
All in all by switching to Virgin who also offered an extra £20 off per month for the first 6 months I reckon I will get everything I wanted including a 1TB box, Fibre optic BB and box upstairs and save myself in the region of about £250 in the first 12 months
I am sad to be leaving SKY and really not got a problem with their product! Yes I will lose a few channels like SKY Atlantic but I gain ESPN which is good
I also lose some HD channels but those HD I will be getting I am not paying more for
I have already had the letter from the SKY CEO saying
That they will welcome me back should I decide to change my mind but you know what I don't think I will be!
UPDATE
So Virgin media have a new customer. All services to be transferred for just over £60 month for 6 months and £91 thereafter......
Although I did give SKY one final chance to match the Virgin offer but all I got was an email (could not even be bothered to call me!) offering a 20% discount for 6 months
Priority Install for next week hopefully, if not it will be Tuesday week.
So Thanks SKY...... Thanks For Nothing!0 -
Phoned this morning to cancel but said if I cancelled now I would lose the final 2 months of my free line rental as this would become payable immediately. This was not explained when signing upo for Sky phone & Broadband (12 months free line rental). all they would offer is 3 months half price sports & movies on top of my existing £26pm so approx £40pm. Said no & will try again & look at other options when line rental kicks back in. Only really watch freeview channels but like Sky+ but would like footies & movies at the right price.0

To all of you reading this who try to "talk" Sky into giving them a better deal
YOU HAVE TO CANCEL TO GET A DEAL!
If you do NOT cancel but merely "talk to" them, they can't/won't offer you their best deal.
So make sure you CANCEL your package. It could be 4 weeks or so after that, but you will eventually get a better deal than if you just talk to them.0 -
Left Sky at the end of October without really haggling as my partner had left and I didn't really think I'd be watching it. Got a 75% off letter today, so took them up on that, £13.88 + HD at £10.75 for 12 months. :money:0
