    Hi,

My package has just come to an end and bumped up to £61 a month including talk and BB.

After an hour on the phone they offered me the following based on the fact that I wanted the full package which currently costs £75 per month.

20% off for a year, making my package £60 per month
25% off for 6 months making it about £53 per month and then back to £75.

I wanted a new box as mine was 2 years old. They offered me an engineer call out for £15, refurb box for £30 or brand new box with 12 months HD subscription for £89.

I ended up cancelling despite their best efforts to keep me. I now have 31 days to decide what to do. I have switched before but always prefer sky tbh. I do kinda want the full package and would go for it at 20% cheaper but I wanted to see what people thought. I need a new box as well. What do people think about their offers on the box?

On another note they told me the offer was only valid for 24hrs!!!!!! Yeah right

Hi, complete novice with all this, so hoping for some friendly and expert advice from other MSE'ers! we're due to move house in under 2 weeks. Been with Virgin for last 6 yrs with increasing costs and no reductions despite having called them a couple of times. Current phone/tv/broadband still in my maiden name, so when we move will be wanting a contract in married name so could get away with calling them as a prospective new customer. We need a landline, broadband, and we have currently got the Virgin Large TV package - DH wants equivalent or better than that. Currently paying approx £60-70pm as get charged for landline calls. Would be grateful of any suggestions of similar packages but cheaper! Many thanks in advance.

VM now following BT and others by offering Line Rental Saver.

Pay 12 months’ line rental upfront for the discounted rate of £120, and you’ll save £46.80 over the year

"Line Rental Saver: £120 for 12 months' Line Rental must be paid in advance by debit/credit card. Available to new and existing customers with a Virgin Media cable phone line. Call charges apply in accordance with your tariff. Not available with other line rental offers, The Biz, The Biz Plus or Home Phone talk plan offers. If you cancel Line Rental Saver within seven working days of your order you will get a full refund of your advance payment to the debit or credit card you paid with. Otherwise the advance payment is non-refundable. After 12 months, you will automatically move to standard line rental charges (currently £13.90 a month)."

Unless you pay up front again of course. But possibly not a good idea if you dont intend to stay another year.

Installation: Installation charges apply (starting from £49.95 for standard install).
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • Hi, I initially moved from Virgin to Sky in January as they had a good deal on tv, broadband and telephone for £24(i think). Anyway apparently my internet usage was high so i ended up paying more for that and my calls via landline were put on a higher package as well. So now i'm paying £48. I really need my internet which is a pain so i wondered if anyone had any suggestions. I've tried phoning and they couldn't do anything. Is it time to leave...or can I(am i in a contract?)

Their unlimited broadband is only £7.50 more per month for Sky TV customers than their capped service, so why did yours go up by £24 per month?
  • I'll be phoning them back to find out!
  • Hi guys

I cancelled my Sport and Movies back in early June and want to reinstate the sports for the footie.

TCB offer £20 cashback + £5 online via Sky for subscribing but as I understand that will tie me in for another 12 months.

Would I be better off calling up and asking for any offers - I am on a 20% off for 12 months at the moment already and £2.50 p/m for HD (they called me) so paying less than £25 for Entertainment Plus & HD and would any offers over the phone tie me for another 12 months as well?

    Cheers

as you already have an offer on your TV package, they will not give you another, that's called offer stacking and not allowed (am an ex sky employee). if you added sports back on you would get 20% off that - that's if the offer still applies if you make changes to your package, check with them first

Thanks for the info. I thought that might well be the case. Any idea before I call them IF it means extending my contract for another 12 months?

I'm intrigued as we may well move house in the next year and as most of us know you get a much better deal if you start as a new customer ;)
