Currently having an Online chat with "Wilfred" - I'll let you know what happens!

Well that failed!! - He said
"Had there been an offer now I would have definitely gone ahead and applied it for you. I do understand you have been a loyal customer. I wish I could have helped you with an offer at this point of time. I request you to keep in touch with us for offers and promotions on the website and check your emails/ letters for future offers If we have any offer in future we will definitely go ahead and apply them for you."

  • Hey,

I've just bought a new 3d tv, coming on Friday, after reading everyone's posts thought I would try my luck and phone sky, I'm currently on the basic package with the kids think I pay £23 a month. Phoned up and asked if there were any offers for the 3d channel, said that I knew you had to have world but I can't afford £70 a month for tv. Guy just said no no offers. Said thanks and hung up.

I was annoyed so phoned back the cancellation department got a nice guy, said I was fed up at everyone else in my family getting offers and just because I don't pay for the full package I never get so I want to cancel. He said he couldn't do half price but could give me 25% off for 6months. I just took it, thought it would let me try out the tv!
:jWaiting for the comping fairy to arrive, a big thank you to all that post comps:j

You spent an hour to get the prices and offers available to everyone on the Sky website? The only good thing you got there was 6 months half price on 3 packages but you could've got 12 months half price on those 3 packages, plus ESPN, by asking for a code from a Sky employee on this website!
  • I just called Sky and told them i was going to leave and go with virgin who were working out cheaper. All i did was read some figures off the website and my bill was REDUCED by 25% for 6 months. I also got ESPN for 3 months free.

    I now pay £49.86 instead of £62.49.

My half price HD package is coming to an end. I only got it last year by cancelling and then getting a phone call a day before the cancel date with the offer. Didn't really want to go through that again, so have accepted a 20% discount for 12 months, plus 50% off the HD charge. (I could have had 25% off for 6 months).

The agent was really friendly - told me I could take a chance and cancel again and see if I get a better offer, but it was a different team who deal with it once notice has been given.

It seems the 20% for a year or 25% for 6 months is the current standard offer that anyone can get.
  • My mum has the old sky package and dish and has been with Sky for around 10 years. She's wanting to upgrade the account to a Sky+ box. I recently joined sky as a new customer and receved the new box and installation for free.
She rang Sky yesterday asking if her account to be upgraded and she was quoted £109 for the box and installation! Has anyone on this message board upgraded their account to Sky+ and successfully haggled a free box and installation?

Also - since I am a new customer to sky (only been with them 2 months), how long is acceptable to take advantage of offers and how do I find out about them without ringing the numbers up?

Who are the Sky employees on the website? How do you find them?

I would like a half price code for everything.
Been comping for a while....still no luck though

You can find Sky employees giving away codes on various websites, I'm sure I've seen them on MSE too. I dunno if I'm allowed to directly link to a thread on another website with these codes though.

The codes available right now are only for new customers. If you have any of Sky's services, you cannot use them.

Thanks for the reply. They are no good to me then as I am currently a customer, even though Ive not been contracted with them since 2010!
