Good for you rocketman80 it just goes to show what you can do although that's my 4th offer on the trot now so I thought I would be pushing it...lol, but the key is to strike up a conversation/ banter and be nice, tell mostly the truth (with a few little white lies) and they mostly want to help....

Cheers mate, It's only my 2nd offer, but its for a year, so i'm happy :T

and yeah, be honest and flirty/chatty. Its the best way. I'm never rude to them, poor people don't get paid enough to have rude people having a go at them. :D
  • Hi all, my wife works at home but is changing jobs and our current broadband and phone is supplied by the company that she is about to leave so we need another supplier. sky supplies out tv package (basic package with kids and discovery channels) so would prefer to have it all in one, also my sky plus box is going a bit dodgy, (i think the HD is going), so phoned up sky and asked them if we could reinstate our broadband and phone and about the sky+ box and she told me that it would cost us to re activate broadband (of which we have a really crap connection, less than a MB) and possibly the phone to as it is a business line, also she said that they wont replace the sky+ box and that they dont send them out anymore and it would have to be a sky+HD box which is free if we took out a 12 month hd subscription otherwise it would cost us over £200. there is no way we can afford those kind of prices, we cant do without sky as this is the only tv reception we can get where we live because we live in the sticks and have no digital tv or freeview reception, what should i be telling them when i phone again and what kind of offer should i be expecting?

After debating with myself i gave SKY a call and just cancelled my package. Was on the 50% deal so got everything (except sports channels) for £21.50 per month. They offered me the vasic service for £25 a month...haha. I politely said no. SKY goes off on 16 September.

Then gave Virgin a call, paying £38 just now for my internet and home phone. Enquired about the cost off Internet alone. If i set up a direct debit, 20 meg would cost me £17 a month.

Just gonna go with that, so will say farewell to my landline.

Called again to confirm the costing and was told no it would be £17.50 a month and then a brand new contract for a year...grrrr.
Hoping SKY call me as i have cancelled the tv. Hope they can do me a deal..

I'm currently on everything I can get (all the channels, fast BB, free calls etc etc), and was looking for a loyalty reward.

Threatened to leave and got nothing. Received a retention call with nothing really interesting.

Received a second retention call from Virgin last night offering me £20 off for a year, and BB upgrade to the current fastest speed (100Mbps I think).

Happy to accept, as I wasn't actually going to leave, but they blinked first :)

I already have ESPN and was told I therefore couldn't take advantage. Is this right?

If you have SKY Sports, you can take advantage of 3 month's free ESPN, which they are currently offering. If you don't want to continue after 3 months, make sure you cancel 2 months after you ring them for the offer as you have to give 1 month's notice. Posted in case members have not seen the offer.
  • Just to add another recent experience, rang sky tonight to cancel as we are both out of . We have entertainment extra and hd and currently paying £34.50. They didn't offer me a discount, only to remove HD thus reducing to £24.00. There was also a lot of scaremongering about having to pay more if we rejoined in 6 months or if we signed up as a new customer. Not sure if that can be true? They did ask about switching phone and broadband to reduce costs but I pointed out that as we can't get sky network here, sky connect is more expensive than our current BT package. I was hoping for an offer on sky connect, but nothing doing. I will update if there are any come back offers in the next few months!

    Technically!

However, cancel today (giving them 31 days notice) then on day 32/33 order it again as a newbie & get the 3 months free!!
  • Thought I would give sky a call this morning see if can do about our bill which is £72 for full tv unlimited BB and a multiroom sub.

Well it didn't go to well I found the agent was not very helpful and for some reason was not listening to what I was saying. He was only prepared to offer me anything if i take out line rental and calls but I had said a number of times that we was in a contract with BT and that it was not worth breaking contract because of the cost, I must have gone in this circle 3 times after this I was being told I had already got line rental for some reason.

I found it very hard work to try and even start any sort of conversation. Will call again in the next day or so. But does anyone have any tips to help me out next time?

Seems like they are calling your bluff these days. The only way people are getting the 50% off deal is actually to cancel and wait for the 50% return to sky flyer.

Ours went off this week so will see how long it takes.

At the moment I'm inclined to stuff it and stay on Freesat. Little one is still watching junk TV even with the free channels.

It's only the football I'm going to miss, but there are ways around that ;)

i am getting half price for a year, emailed my cancellation, they phoned me back a week before it was due to go off, i was offered half price tv instantly. I did the old i love sky for sports but the whole thing would have to go as i could no longer afford the full price. Was very nice to the girl which seemed to work.

    Used my masculine charms....................

Having said all that, ive been on a deal now for at least 3 years.

I did get rid of hd, im hoping i will get a deal on that soon. :)
