I haven't actually left yet so probably won't get that offer, there is part of me that wants to leave wait a few months and get the offer, and part of me that doesn't (I love the us shows - walking dead, falling skies, new girl & two and a half men etc.) ??.?? What to do?
Subscribe to Lovefilm or Netflix for £6 a month and stream your favourite shows online. They wont be as up to date as Sky but its better than nothing.
Then bide your time and wait for Sky to call. They will eventually!0 -
I was slowly starting to regret that I'm keeping broadband with Virgin Media (I canceled the Phone and TV already - to be disconnected in september). The phone service was purely an unwanted part of the package, nobody had my number is was used only to contact VM when needed. From the day I cancelled the TV and Phone they kept calling me every single day causing only annoyance
I asked not to be contacted by phone but they did every day anyway and they asked for my password everytime before they even could tell what it was about. And every time I refused to give any passwords (how can I be sure who really calls me) and I asked every time not to be called again.
They never stopped.. so yesterday I stopped them by unplugging my phone and sticking it in the cupboard :rotfl:.. Oh this feels good. They haven't got my current mobile number. I'm wondering how long it will take them to figure out that now they can only spam my email.. but until then no crap from Virgin Media :T0 -
Had 12 month contract (Sky Entertainment package + HD package) for £29.75 per month. Got contract with £100 M&S vouchers through Quidco.
Coming to end of contract at end of this month, and price rises due in September.
Called today about cutting the cost-
Dropping HD (can't notice the difference) would save £10.25 per month.
Offered additional 25% off Entertainment package for 6 months.
Asked for it to be kept on file while I consider leaving Sky for Freeview.
Update called tonight, spoke to Hazel who offered 20% off basic package for 12 months. This is better than 25% off for 6 months for now. When my TalkTalk contract ends, I'll call again to transfer phone and broadband to Sky.0 -
Gonna push once more this evening see what I can get.......will let u know later..... :-(0

20% off package deal came to an end in June. Cancelled Sky (June 21st) as I was going away for 6 weeks. Called Sky August 3rd to see if there were any offers on my account, in time for footy season. Offered 6 months half price on full package, free multiroom but had to pay for HD for 12 months. Took it with my bill working out to 38.50 a month.
7 days later received a mailshot with come back to sky half price sky for 12 months. Called Sky to complain and told offer applied to my account on 6th August. So couldn't have it. I complained and threatend to cancel again so they gave me the offer. Had to remove the 6 month offer to apply the 12 month one. So have full package including HD for 12 months at half price. Also signed up to free ESPN for 3 months via online sky account.
Very happy. If you threaten to leave, go through with it. They will soon come asking you back. Its a matter of if you are prepared to wait.0 -
GooliesOfFire wrote: »Virgin for phone? You're joking right? They are the most expensive. If as you say you don't need a home phone get broadband only from VM then (if in fibre optic area). Sky offer better TV, and TV with Virgin Media is a bit like paying the middle man, so you cannot expect great deals. I hate VM TV that's why it's due to be disconnected in september. Same as you I don't need home phone so it's broadband only with Virgin Media for me. And I've got Freeview now (new aerial fitted by me in our loft just over a week ago, one remote control as tv has built in HD freeview is also cool and finally I can delete crap I don't want to see). I'm also paying much less for my mobile phone too now (no contract).
I'm trying to save wherever I can now as our family is getting bigger from next year
After debating with myself i gave SKY a call and just cancelled my package. Was on the 50% deal so got everything (except sports channels) for £21.50 per month. They offered me the vasic service for £25 a month...haha. I politely said no. SKY goes off on 16 September.
Then gave Virgin a call, paying £38 just now for my internet and home phone. Enquired about the cost off Internet alone. If i set up a direct debit, 20 meg would cost me £17 a month.
Just gonna go with that, so will say farewell to my landline.0 -
Went back into contract last year to get the 1 tb box and multiroom installed for £49, contract now up and I phoned to cancel and they gave me the multiroom for £2.50 per month and line rental for £3 per month, both for 12 months with no contract. Get the free broadband and talk anyways, so no discount there so I accepted but still have option to cancel0

Following SPC1963's lead I rang and was a little cheeky.
My account was due up in 10 days, and the girl said she'd need to reinstate it to check for any offers, she did and low and behold, everything half price for 6 months and free broadband for 6 months too.
Very happy, and the lady on the phone was lovely too.
All good ;-D0 -
Good for you rocketman80 it just goes to show what you can do although that's my 4th offer on the trot now so I thought I would be pushing it...lol, but the key is to strike up a conversation/ banter and be nice, tell mostly the truth (with a few little white lies) and they mostly want to help....0
