Have been reading with interest and want to get some discount.
We have been with Sky a very long time. Current package is:
Sky World £52/month
Extra Subscription £10.25/month (Sky+ Box in son's room)
Sky+HD Pack £10.25/month
Sky3D Free
Totalling £72.50/month
We also pay for my parent's Sky+ TV...basic package £19.50/month
What do you all reckon our chances of a discount are?

Hi, having read the posts about discounts to existing customers, I decided to phone SKY to enquire about upgrading my full sky package to SKY HD. I was told that I would receive a new HD box free, normally £299 and it would cost me £65 installation fee and £10.25 extra p/m. No other deals were offered. I then phoned back about one hour later and said that having costed one years full Sky package and HD installation and subscription, I had decided that I would be better off purchasing a Humax 320GB digital recorder and cancelling my SKY subscription. The operator I spoke to then asked me if I had been offered any deals, I optimistically said no. He offered the HD box and installation free with HD half price for 6 months. I asked if there was anything else he could do. He said nothing other than reviewing my present package. I said I was not satisfied with that and that I would just cancel my subscription(thinking he would put me through to another department), but no, he put through my cancellation there and then and I am cut off in 31 days. Not too bothered as no doubt they will offer me something after I leave. Where did I go wrong?0

Just phoned Sky, threatened to cancel and got 25% off my £62.25 TV package for 12 months.
I reckon that's £186.75 saved.
Ker-ching!0 -
Having just cancelled my Sky subscription, I am getting grief from my family for being pig-headed!!
What if I go back to Sky and told them I had changed my mind, would they offer me a deal?0 -

Dan, I would wait a week or so. You are bound to be contacted by Sky either by phone or post asking you to reconsider and no doubt offer you a better deal.0 -
I contacted Sky after reading this thread just on the off chance that I may get a reduction (well its worth a try) so I called them and spoke to a lovely agent who I explained that I was looking to cancel my contract to cut down my household costs & save money.
Now I currently have their Broadband, Phone/Phone line and basic TV package which I pay £40 a month for, after speaking with the agent they were very keen to keep me as a customer so looked into the pricing for me.
Now I managed to get a reduction of £5.00 on the TV package and £2.50 on the broadband a total of £7.50 a month which is great as its now saved me £90.00 a year.....Great!
Well worth a try I think. :j0 -

I have been with Virgin for a long time and have been paying £60+ per month for TV,phone and broadband.I just rang them and asked if there was anything they could do for me, I spoke to a lovely lady who was able to drop my payments to £46 per month and that includes all my phone calls wheras it didnt before. Thanks once again MSE you have saved me yet more money!0

Just done the deed, called wanting to cancel, offered 25% over 12 Months, that'll do for me :j0

I rang today, tried to say I was paying too much and was looking into cheaper alternatives such as BT vision.
They offered me 25% discount on the TV package only, not broadband and phone. This meant I would have to be tied down for another 12 months so I called their bluff and said I wanted to cancel.
In the end I said nah just leave it and I'll think about it0
