I rang yesterday afternoon from work (after my mum told me it wouldnt work because loads of people would be doin it)..
I rang and just said i would like to cancel my sky package and the man just said ok ill put you through to cancellations...had to hold for about 10 mins and then a scottish lady came on an i said i had a paycut from work and wanted to cancel as i couldnt really afford it and she said ok thats fine let me just go into your account (at this point i started to panic) .. so i said eerm unless you have any deals? and she said no we dont have any deals now, we did but people were abusing them so we dont now (heart sunk) ... then she said, well, if you sign up for another 12 months we could give you 25% off your bill for 12 months.. i had a movie package i didnt want though so i asked if i could cancel that and still have 25% off, at first she said no but i turned the charm onand she said she would try and apply the discount without movies and what dya know, it worked
so ive got sky tv (with 4 of the packs), sky broadband (free) and line rental, for the grand total of about £26 a month, for a year
Happy with that :T
She was abit funny with me to start with (they must be getting hundreds of calls like this) but i was just extra nice to her and it seemed to work.0 -
I just called. We are still in contract as only been with Sky since August. I asked to remove the movies and ESPN as I had just come out of work and needed to reduce monthly outgoings. No mention of any deals at all, just removied the packages and told me the new monthly cost.
Is it worth ringing back and saying I got cut off during the call and wanted to check that my package had been downgraded??0 -
I phoned and told them that I had been made redundant (true) and they gave me a half price package for 6 months. That deal ends 17th Feb and I still haven't got a job. I've been told by friends who are with Sky that they make you wait 3 mths before you are allowed another deal. Is that true?0

it might be worth calling them as there been telling alot of us to ring at 5th month as they might have another deal they could do0 -

Called Sky today to 'discuss' my bill, the gent on the other line was nice enough but said he was unable to do anything. Speed forward 3 hours and I receive a call from someone else at Sky who immediately offered to knock my bills from £41 to £30. Bonus.0

I have a package with virgin for L broadband, M t.v with sky sports and phone. Cost currently £53.49 per month.Rang them to say i could no longer afford it and to see if there was anything they could do, was told a flat no and that sky would be more expensive with a slower BB speed and download limit.Said i didn't know but i might investigate my options, to which i was told fine but they couldn't budge on my price.
Then went to see if she was right about sky and was offered same package for £51 but would cost me £10 transfer of phoneline fee and £30 installation cost. In total over the 12 mnths = no saving, asked if that was the best they could do and they then offered to lose the installation fee. So still hardly a saving.
Think they may have got wise to this trick now or something, tried calling virgin back to say i had been offered a cheaper deal and were they sure they couldn't do anything and was again told no and that they would put my cancellation through!!!!
So now i really have had to find another deal, luckily found that BT vision could do same package for £43 a month, with free ESPN and £131 cashback through topcashback site, so overall pretty pleased, only downside was that i had to buy the V+ box for £60. But was still my cheapest option overall.
So just beware they don't always come up trumps, even though i had been a loyal customer for years and stated that i was having financial difficulties because of maternity leave etc they wouldn't budge by £1.0 -
I have the full sky package, I have now had 3 lots of 20% off for 6 months! I just phone up as I get near the end of each 6 month deal and ask what deals are now available to me, if they say none I say I'll take off the movies and sports packages. They then usually extend my deal for another 6 months! Good Luck!0
