I have tv, broadband and phone with virgin media, a couple of years ago my virgin bill suddenly jumped up £12 a month when i rung them to ask why they said my 12 month contract had finished. Strange considering i had been with them since they took over NTL and hadn't had a 12 month contract !!!!! The first phone call made no difference they reckoned they couldnt do anything. The second call got me £ 2 a month knocked off. After getting a quote from sky and then ringing virgin back say that i wanted to leave due to the price rise i then got a reduction of £14 a month permanently !!!!!!!!!. Since then their pricing structure has changed but i still pay £10 a month less than they quote on their website for the bundle that i have. Its always worth trying to haggle

Having read your article on haggling for a better deal,I telephoned customer services to reduce my Sky World package only to be told as a "valued customer" they would reduce my monthly fees by £10.00 per month for six months,a saving of £60.00.RESULT!!!!!!!!!!

Shame, did you have any joy at all:(. I've only got one month left of my contract so I'm going to ring sky next month and see about getting rid of the HD mix ( so they think)... seei if i can't get that free for a bit:D

I think it all depends on the person you get some are quite helpful, I found it's better to phone during the day & just go through to cancellations! hope this helps

I rang up Sky to "cancel" my subscription for Sky+ as there are cheap offers out there for Vigin & BT. Bloke offered me a new HD box with all HD channels. I only had to pay £15 for the courier to deliver, I'd install it myself (just by swapping the leads from the old box to new) & 25% off for 12 months. :T

Just called sky after reading martins tips, i have sky world package inc movies sports and multiroom had to cancel HD subscripton(10.25 pm)now paying £65 a month, was only offered 20% off for 6months.. Not impressed others got 50%.. but i guess its better than nothing..

I rang up last night said i was having financial difficulty and would probably need to reduce my package we have the full whack cos we wanted 3d channel which you can't have without having hd, movies and sports. Only thing she said was that they could save me money on my broadband and calls if i switched them to sky.
Must be doing it wrong

Just rang Sky and first person I spoke to offered nothing and was quite happy to let me cancel! Rang back again and got very nice chap who offered me 25% off my package for 12months straight away!!!!!! So it does just depend on who you speak to.

Just spoken to sky and got half price on full package for 3 months plus multiroom free for 12 months. (Will just cancel movies and sports after 3!)
Saved over 200 quid in 10 mins :j
