AM new to this and only joined to let everyone know what happened to us. Called retentions team about months ago, hubby works in a call centre so knew exactly how to haggle them down. Offered 6 months half price full sky package, broadband and phone, with 2 months free films. Started getting bills for over £90 which then went up to £110. Several months of phone calls and being passed from pillar to post resulted in being told there was no note of this offer and we could like it or lump it. Be very careful and get EVERYTHING in writing.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:0

Hi,
Just "haggled" with sky and got a free HD box, with some HD channels, free installation, and recording ability.
Much better value for money and chuffed to bits, thanks Martin0 -
I'm in the last month of my contract anyway, so phoned Sky and said i'd been offered a mega deal by Virgin (Sky Customer services can be contacted free on 0808 1014437).....this number gets you through to customer services, then you must ask to be passed through to the disconnections team, as customer services have no power to offer deals. The first guy I spoke to, kept me on the line for 10 minutes, came back to the call, asked if I was still on the line, I said "yes, i'm still here", then he hung up on me.......I called back, very annoyed and the exact same thing happened again, then a third time!!!!!!! On the 4th time, the poor guy on the other end of the phone got an absolute pasting................I digress, the point is, it seems clear to me that these people have been told to make it difficult for customers to get through to the disconnection team. Do not be put off!!!
I got through to retentions and the result was 6 months half price on packages (I have them all, plus HD pack, plus multi room), they won't discount the HD package subscription costs, or the multiroom charge.........they discount the packages, so my £52/month packages went to £26/month for 6 months..............NO NEW CONTRACT..........so free to leave when I like still.

Following the step by step guide on this site, i reviewed my watching habits, contacted B T to ask how much cheaper they could supply the services to me, then i contacted sky cust serv, told them i was considering going to B T, and wanted to cancel my service with them. sky rep argued that B T package did not include movies, i said that i did not watch movie channels very much and, it was more of a financial decision, due to the current state of the economy, reather than the level of service i desired. after a few mins, he came back with an offer, lowering my monthly fees from £72.50, to £47.40, and for the exact same package as i had, Broadband, free eve and w/end calls, skyplus hd, multi room, sky movies and sky sports 1 and 2, a result i think. he told me it would be reviewed in 6 months, but im sure the the package can be negotiated again, lol. Ta Martin, keep up the good work:T0

All phone calls are recorded by Sky............check your phone bill for the date and time of the call you made, then contact Sky and ask them to check the call recording.0 -
I made the call this morning (thought I'd get in before Sky got tons of calls) and YES, it worked for me. I have the HD package plus multi-room and I was offered 6 months at half-price, plus an excellent phone and broadband package when my current contract ends. I will be passing this on to friends, but worthwhile giving it a go. I was not put through to retention, it was dealt with at the Customer services level, the operative was friendly and very understanding, told me I had been with Sky for 9 years, 6 months and for once I felt like a valued customer, which is rare these days. Thanks for the tip!!!0
