I'm not much of a haggler but taking the bull by the horns I called up Sky and asked them if they could look at my package and see if they could offer me a more competitive price. A couple of minutes later the helpful Scottish chap I was talking to came back to tell me they could offer me 50% off the cost of the ordinary TV package (not the HD part) for 6 months saving me £23.50 a month and £141 over the 6 months! Thanks moneysavingexpert.com, it was well worth the phone call!0

I'm a bit surprised this was included in today's email. 6 months for half price has been their tactic for years...0

After reviewing the channels I watch, I found that about 90% were available on Sky FreeSat. So I called up and cancelled the TV part of my subscription, so now I pay them £21/month for line rental and broadband, instead of the £45 or so I was paying before. And I get more done because there's less chance of me just sticking any old tat on.0

Just phoned Sky and got through to a lovely scottish guy who managed to reduce me from £42 per month to £21 for the next 6 months. When I asked if the price would increase back after 6 months automatically, he said it would but to give them another call as they could probably do something else at the time! He also said he would arrange for me to have "Anytime Plus" included which gives access to over 500 movies and many full seasons of tv series but I believe I already saw the other day that Sky subscribers with certain packages are due to get this anyway!0

Thanks to this forum i have just rang SKY and although they did not offer me the full 50% (It may be because I had ESPN and other pay channels) well they offered me 20% discount and I gladly took it. I have also cancelled ESPN and the rest of the stand alone channels.
