I called up and the man from Sky customer retentions offered me 6 months half price or 12 months at 25% - comes to the same saving. We took 6 months at 50% - he says people often call back at 6 months and ask for another deal!!
The funny thing was, I called up on Wednesday (when the MoneySaving email was sent out). The Customer service guy had to call me back later in the evening, the guy said their phone lines were jam packed that night and he didnt know why... hee hee - us money savers do.... :T0 -
Just phoned a few minutes ago said I was thinking of cancelling completely offered 25% off for 12 months, nice saving.0

I've only got basic package with a few packs and a basic box, no broadband, etc. so they didn't offer me any money off but they've given me a Sky+HD box fitted for free and no extra to pay per month - excellent, just right for our new LED HD TV!
Jefery,
I am also on just the basic TV with an ageing Sky+ box. Very happy that a short call to cancellations has resulted in a new free HD+ box with free installation. (New 12 month contract of course).
Looking forward to some Anytime+ action soon and hopefully some free to air HD.

I've just come off the phone to Sky with a 20% reduction in my bill for 12 months - it's actually 25% off my normal Sky+ subscription but they apparently don't apply discount to multiroom so it works out as only 20% off the total monthly bill. Gone from paying £50 a month to £40. Doesn't seem like much but having been made redundant any saving is better than none.
If I didn't spend a lot of time in the evenings and weekends watching movies I could have got rid of that package and got it down to about £30/35 a month with multiroom included.0 -
I rang sky today been on the phone for 30minutes trying to get my monthly bill down as it is £80 a month just for tv, movies and sports with multiroom, but doesn't include broadband or phone. I am paying £60 for phone and broadband with BT. However, they wouldn't reduce it, just kept saying we can't do any deals or offers. I am definately looking if I can get a better deal with another company.0

right just rang them up got thru to the scottish call centre
ive got basic tv package, broadband and phone currently paying £46.
my tv is not working correctly the lmb is at an angle which is down to a fix they did last year so only some channels working. told the lady which offered me an engineer visit which costs £65 yer right it is a 10 min fix with a ladder screw driver and 2 new cable ties! told her it was down to the poor fix they did last time as the cable is forcing it to twist as run cable on the side told if didn't like it wish to put a complaint in put it in writing so much for customer service!
anyway told the only offer available for the moment finically is 25% off for 12months and that the 50% off for 6 months ended last thursday anyway by reading this thread can see that is not the case. told i could either have the engineer visit or the 25% off but not both as they are not aloud to give 2 offers well i have chosen to vote with my feet i have cancelled the tv and will now look around for a new provider for the lot and will transfer the broadband and phone over as well.
think sky to me are not seeing the problem here i have a tv service that is not working properly for last 2months becasue of there poor repair last year and they are not prepared to go the extra mile bearing in mind ive been a sky customer for years and never really had any offers apart from the repair last year. so 5 years as a customer worth not alot what a shame well looks like im going off to virgin and at least i wont lose service thru a cable instead of a dish.0 -
Hi all
We currently pay about £26 to BT for line rental, phone and broadband. We think this is quite expensive as 1 - we don't use the phone ever as we get free mins on our mobiles (we don't even have it plugged in!!) and 2 - the broadband is limited to a 10GB monthly usage allowance which we always get warned we're close to going over (we watch quite a bit of catch up tv online etc).
Anyway - was thinking of going over to Sky but want to get the best deal we possibly can - anyone know the best way to do this??
They offer phone + broadband + line rental for £21, but would really like TV too - every time I add just one TV package it's an extra £19 a month! Any ideas??thanks xx

Yes, that's the minimum Sky TV subscription now.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Just phoned to try and get some discount.
They offered 25% off over a year, said the 50% offer over 6 months has finished.
I've been with them for over 7 years and expected to be looked after.
I pay over £70 a month to them and have never asked for a discount before, but they now choose not to offer me the 50% ?
Will phone back and cancel - hello free-view.
