Think I will have to sign up to Sky today, Virgin still haven't bothered to call me again and I am now 1 week before cancellation - I need an internet connection mainly, hope Sky can install that quickly..
I would have stayed with Virgin had they not massively increased the charges so many times this year but they don't seem bothered about losing customers either.0 -

Bear in mind that the phone line for Sky B/Band is installed/supplied by BT Openreach - you will be at the mercy of them for a date - could be several weeks (if not longer:eek:)0 -

That is what really concerns me... not to mention I don't think the speed will be very good. I will probably have to ring Virgin next week and ask them to keep me connected for another 1 month just on the broadband. Wonder how much they will charge for that as a standalone service...0 -

Speed will be OK IF Sky have got their equipment in your exchange (LLU) - It'll be dire otherwise (Sky Connect) - check your local exchange using Samknows site http://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_availability
Whichever it is, the installation will still be in the hands of BTO:(
edit - also there are tales of Sky running out of capacity even at exchanges which they have unbundled - so even if its listed on Sam knows they may try to put you on their Connect product which is expensive and sloooow.0 -

Depends on speed, for 30mb it's £28.50. When we cancelled our package anf kept broadband they let us keep the phone for an extra couple of quid. We pay £30.40 a month now for 30mb broadband and phone with free weekend calls. That is what really concerns me... not to mention I don't think the speed will be very good. I currently pay £31.75 for my Sky HD package and phoned them today asking to reduce my monthly outgoings. They were happy to remove HD (with a month's notice) but no other deals on the table despite me threatening to leave. I said I would think about it after speaking with my partner.:(0

I got quoted 3 prices for taking the tv service off and just keeping bb/phone but it's only 10 mb broadband - £30.90 not on contract, £25.90 for 12 mth contract or £22.90 for 18 mth contract - but as you say it's not normally much less if it's just bb only - I will call them next week and see.. (seem to not get the UK call centre in the evening so I will wait).0 -
If you call retentions (choose thinking of leaving us option) you usually get UK staff :-)0

I think the best thing is to proceed with the cancellation. That may bring further offers.0 -
We have just finished 6 months half price sky (full package) but during that time also took out their broadband and phone line - has anyone successfully negotiated another reduction in the same circumstances? Happy to cancel sky TV completely and I did check if you could just have their BB/phone on its own prior to taking it out.0
