I cancelled on Feb 29 and retentions called me to offer a deal on March 5.0 -
Ah, you are already on Call #2 from Retentions (I'm only on my first). Interesting to note we received much the same response on the same day. I hadn't realised that Sky has halved their offer. Could be VM are aware of this - I'm going to wait until the end of this week when Sky should have new offers; hope VM call with a decent offer. If push comes to shove, I can "cancel the cancellation" a couple of days before the end is due.
Sky M&S voucher has gone back up to £100... cashback value on TCB has also doubled, is now making the Sky deal VERY attractive as it's way less than similar spec package on Virgin.
I'm now over 2 weeks into my Virgin cancellation period, not had any more convos with Virgin this week, I may just sign up to Sky. Only thing that concerns me is the broadband speed compared to Virgin...0 -

wasnt offered any new boxes just put it in to cancel, less than helpful but if retention do call i will see what they say. do you think they will call?0 -

If you have already put in to cancel you may get a call from the Winback Team in terms of stopping your cancellation. They can offer 50% off TV packages and may have a deal on a new box for you. It depends on the deal you accepted for the boxes in the first place. I did work in retentions so I know that there was usually an offer for free service call and/or update of box (unless you were in contract) - it depended on what you currently had and how long you had been with sky0 -
just phoned virginmedia to get a better deal said all they could do was reduce it by £3. currently 10mb broadband and phoneline, + anytime calls, and a £5 loyalty discount, which doesnt actually mean a thing. bill is £35 a month, so £40 without the discount, but i've been told my package is £30 a month so i cant work that out.
they've told me to wait until may 3rd to change my package. so i will. as for this doubling the broadband speed as seen on tv, i've been told mine is being trebled due to being a loyal customer aka 10mb to 30mb and they are going to be given me a new router as mine cant handle it.
We'll see.0 -
I just phoned Sky (its free to call if you are one of their skytalk customers) I told the person who answered that becoming unemployed I really had to rethink my options of having Sky.. they immediately offered to take my line rental price off my package for the next year.. no arguments no discussions and I asked if this would take me into a years contract they said no its with no obligations.. of course I said thanks very much and yes please!! That 1 free phone call has just taken my current Sky bill from in its £40s a month down to in its £20's a month and was from my next bill in 3 days total annual saving £156!!! Thanks Sky was worth asking!!0

Hi.
Has anyone got a number to call Virgin?
I'm going to haggle!!
I've got
BB - 10MB
Phone - XL
TV - XL
1 x V+
£64/m approx after the increase
If I don't get anything good, i'm off to Sky
BB - Unlimited
Phone - Unlimited
Line rental
TV - Entertainment Extra
1 x Sky+HD
£60/m + £100 M&S vouchers + £100 Quidco
I mainly want F1.
I'll let you know what happens.Had the following package with Virgin and with the price rises next month I would have been paying £83.65 each month.
Broadband - LARGE
Phone - MEDIUM
Tv - XL
Sky Sports Package
2 x V+ Boxes
1 x Standard box
Rang up Virgin a few days back to give notice to cancel services and had a call from retentions today. So I'm still on the same package as previously however the standard virgin box is going to be replaced with a 1TB Tivo (with no install/activation charges).
Broadband - LARGE
Phone - MEDIUM
Tv - XL
Sky Sports Package
2 x V+ Boxes
1 x Tivo (1TB)
However with all the credits applied it's going to cost £63.45 each month (on a 12 month contract). So I've saved £242.40 over the year and had the standard V box swapped for a 1TB Tivo
Also the price of £63.45 each month takes into account the price rises of next month

Found a number to speak to Virgin Media.
Phoned to cancel, the guy said the best he could do was £71/m for my current package +Sports.
Decided to go ahead with the cancel.
He also mentioned that the last 9 people he'd spoken to about disconnections had had to change their phone number as Sky weren't able to transfer the number over.
I've been with both Sky & BT before.
Anyone know if this is true?
Do BT have to reconnect the line or do Sky do it?
Best regards0 -

When I asked Virgin they said I could transfer my phone number to most providers except TalkTalk - when I nearly ordered Sky it had a box to put your current number in if you wanted it transferred. As Virgin have gone quiet on me for deals and am over 2 weeks into the cancellation period, I will probably order Sky in the next day or so, so will be able to let you know re the phone number!
The only thing Virgin said on their 4th (?) call to me was that it's best not to put the phone on cancel as when Sky take it over that will cancel it, not sure if that is true or if was just Virgin trying to keep one of my services going..0
