I currently pay £40 a month for Top-Up TV (as I just watch Darts, Snooker, Motor racing and Tennis). With this you get Sky Sports 1 and 2, and ESPN.
    I love F1, but just for 20 races a year, I don't believe it's worth paying Sky.
Is this a good deal for what I'm getting, or would it be better value going to Sky?
The advantage of Top Up TV is I can cancel whenever I want to.

My sky was due to cancel today, i got a call just now offering me the full package (what I had) free for 6 months!!! I had almost given up hope!!

  • evening all we are moving soon and noticed sky are doing some good deals so on the phone i got offered the whole tv package free for 6 months as opposed to online £100 m and s plus £126 cashback after much debate decided to cancel the phone offer and go online but girl in retentions said would be very differcult to do online offer after cancelling didn't tell them that's what i wanted to do.
Does anybody now that would be true?
i suppose i would then be a existing customer as i have cancelled in the last 12 months

    cheers

  • just one on honesty just phoned sky a minute ago and explained my problem and eventually they gave me £50 credit on the account as well as the free 6 months so assuming i drop to basic £20 a month after 6 months will only cost me £70 all told good luck people

I have just been notified by Virgin that my package for Broadband (up to 10mb) and TV (Large) has been increased to £36.50p. I am sure I could get something cheaper if I could split my services between Virgin for TV (as hubby likes Alibi !;)) and Broadband with someone esle. Also I can't have Sky for TV as we are not allowed to mount a Sky dish on our property.

My calls package is with BT on an "Unlimited Calls" 12 month Package until December. Would it be worth my while putting my Broadband service with BT and what would it cost me ?

So which is better for me? Top-up TV or Sky?

Would suggest doing some research on the sky site and the top-up tv site and comparing packages.

Check Quidco or topcashback for sky too.

coming to the end of the month so i thought i'd give sky a try again (failed miserably on my last 2 calls a few weeks ago but i'd taken the wrong tack by asking for a discount instead of saying we wanted to cancel due to cost, which is what i did this time).

been with sky for nearly 12 years. currently paying £90.25 for tv/multiroom/hd/bb/talk

best offer today, 9 months discount of £17.25 per month for the package we have now. no tie-in or any other obligation. can call again when this deal ends to review account for any discounts available at that time.

not brilliant, but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick! :D

i'll freely admit that i'm not willing to actually go through the process to cancel, then see if they offer anything before the termination date. hubby would kill me if he lost his sports!

I got my husband to cancel and the Sky goes off on 4 April. We have been with them for years but they adamantly refused to give anty offers to stay. My son and hubbie are desperate to ring Sky to cancell the cancellation but I think we should wait.
Do you think that Sky will contact us...or do I have falsr hope?:(

They do ring people a day or two before switch off, but its pot luck whether they ring you or not.

Its well worth the risk if you can bear to potentially lose your sky.

Might be worth a call to them to say you want to stay with them but can't afford full price, then see what they offer....

I would hold out for them to call, but I could live without sky if it was switched off....

Keep us updated whatever you decide to do.
