  • I have a simple package: £20 per month for normal channels and Sky+ HD box but no HD, movies or sport.

I'm about to have a baby so lookig at ways of cutting costs everywhere. Sky doesn't escape this review. However I'm now a fairly low paying customer so would they do much to keep?

As an aside, I'm also going to be calling O2 about my mobile (ends June), O2 broadband (already out of contract) and BT line (also out of contract).

I'm keen on getting HD channels but don't really want to end up paying extra and also anything on demand which means I either go for Virgin Tivo or wait for Sky Anytime+

Anyone got any ideas if Sky will try to keep me, upsell or should I look elsewhere.

I'd prefer to stay with Sky for ease and get some on demand services. At the moment I'm thinking of taking O2's homephone for £7.50 per month (my BB is £6.49 for unlimited 7MB) and ditching BT. Anything from Sky would be a bonus.

Any ideas no matter how small would help me with my tactics.

    Cheers all

I got rid of my HD package + Movies 2 months ago. I can still get the free HD channels, so I'm not too fussed at the moment.

    20+ quid a month saved.

im with virgin media and my package is

    XL Tv V+hd
    L Broadband
    L phone
    Sky Sports

i'm currently paying £84 a month before the increase, after reading this thread i phoned last night to try and see if i could get a better deal but i was told that because im on the basic package they couldnt offer me anything they only gave me money off my next bill as my tv and internet had been off for 2 days,The only things they suggested was either reducing the tv size or getting rid of the phone as we hardly use it. Should i try again or just give up??
Don't fall for it call their bluff and cancel, retentions will get back to you with a deal

hi, i called virgin media today to "cancel" my account in the hope of some good discounts.

all i got was to be told that in april my bill would go up  (apparently all VM customers are going to get charged more) and the best deal they could give me was to keep my price at the same price as i already have "lots of discounts on my account".
also they tried to flog me L phone with no discount.

i had read up that if you cancel they call you back before your 30 days to try and keep your custom.

    is this true?

has anyone done this before? when i can expect a call and do they offer much discount?
    HELP PLEASE! :)

got a call from VM today

    they offered me 2 options

    1: keep the same package
    XL TV
    M Phone
    M BB
    Sky sports
    1 Multiroom

going from £73 to £68 with 2 months free

    2:keep the same package
    XL TV
    M Phone
    M BB
    Sky sports
    1 Multiroom
swap 1 box to tivo box (£5 p/m)

keep same price £73 with 2 months free

i said to call me back whilst i thought about it
what does everyone think of these? i dont think they are great offers but not too bad tbh.
i might try and squeeze out movies for free and upgrade my internet and phone.
is the tivo box as good as VM make it out to be or should i just stick with what i have (1x v+hd, 1x vhd)??
