  • I officially cancel my VM contract on Thursday, just hope they come up with a deal for me :D
  • Hi,

I was going to call Sky today and cancel and move to virgin, as i believe their current offer of 3 months free +£50 credit runs out tomorrow?

The reason i want to leave Sky is as i belive the TiVo box is superior, and Sky's broadband is beyond a joke. They ran a test a few months ago, i'm getting just over 1 meg!! I pay £85 a month for Sky, so no doubt they will offer me something. I'm just a bit confused what to do as there doesnt seems much good feedback on here about Virgin?

    - re the price increases? Will these be on top of the adverised amounts online at present?

    - If i wanted to add Sky sports, am i better adding it now, then calling up after a month to cancel it, with a hope they will offer it dos!!!!ed. Basically i need it for F1, but trying to do it the cheapest way.

I think de to the broadband, by hand is forced into going virgin. I need a decent speed and Sky doesnt cut it. The OH says that the Tivo service is better than sky due to better catch up tv etc. So i'm happy to move.....just wanting advise on the cheapest way to do it and if i need to do it before tomorrow?

    Thanks

Getting Sky TV as Virgin want to charge a massive premium for what Sky offer as their basic package now (Sky1, Sky2, Sky Atlantic, SyFy, Sky Living, Universal, FX, Watch, Comedy Central, MTV). With £100 Quidco+£100 M&S, Sky works out at just £3.33/month

So in total will pay £19.33/month for super fast braodband and great telly!!!!

I'm doing the same except going for the £35 package :)
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.

I Moved from Sky/BT/Orange a couple of years back to Virgin - the full package - TV, Broadband & Landline in a consolidation & costcutting exercise.
I have to say - their broadband is 2nd to none.
Plus I do like the Tivo box we moved to last Sept/Oct.
BUT the prices have crept up & up, and now they tell me they are adding a further £4 (yes - I know its only £4!) to my monthly bill - this will take it to around £62 a month - excluding any "stray peak calls",and I DONT EVEN HAVE SPORTS OR MOVIES!
I have a Tivo box, an extra box upstairs, XL TV, Evening & Weekend Calls, L Broadband, + Phone line rental. (Plus As Part of the Tivo deal _ I'm on loyalty discount of £8 month until Oct! taking me down to £57) - by Oct I'll be paying £70 !! - HELP !!!

You are entitled to call VM, and go through to the "are you thinking of leaving Virgin Media" team, and tell them you want to exercise your right to give 30 days notice to terminate your contract. You must do this within 30 days of receiving your price increase letter from VM.
In my case (and may others), VM will call you within a few days, and thenit's up to how much you fee you can push them, to negotiate a better deal. I got a Tivo box, installed and activated for free, plus a £10 per month price drop, and £100 credit to my account.
    C'mon you Canaries!!

Left on the 8th Jan, no incentives offered to rejoin, wondering if the comeback letters are generic or specifically tailored to individual customers.

Thanks for that - I'm just worried it will taken them longer than Saturday to call me back when all the good offer from Sky have ended - at the moment there are some OK "Bundles" plus £100 in vouchers + free installation at Sky. I will have to get on to them tonight ♥
  • Had sky tv turned off jan 7th 2012 after one year half price deal.
20th feb 2012 letter from sky offering another half price deal have to take deal before march 15th
  • recent posters that have called to cancel with Sky or actually gone through & cancelled, are you in cabled areas? i'm just wondering if this has any bearing on what you're being offered to come back? Sky are our only option & whilst i don't mind saying we'll leave, OH would kill me if he lost his sports channels for a day, never mind a few weeks?!
