I'm interested in the Quidco £100 and £100 M&S vouchers.
I want Sky rather than Virgin due to the extra channels (Sky atlantic, Sky1, Sky2, Sky Atlantic, SyFy, Sky Living, Universal, FX, Watch, Comedy Central, MTV). But also need unlmited broadband, so going with Sky's unlimited.
Virgin offered me M+ with TIVO, evening calls and broadband, but other than some HD channels, I thought the greater TV channels was a better deal and with Quidco/M&S vouchers worked out £5/month cheaper
Quidco have that this deal expires in a few days. I have to give 30 days notice to Virgin and would rather only a few days overlap. Should I go for it now as I am not sure it will stay at £100?
Topcashback have similiar deal but doesn't say when their's expires0 -
I only cancelled Friday and Virgin rang me first thing this morning to try and get me back
I didn't agree though... ^^ am also seriously interested in the Sky deal with the cashback/M&S voucher and similar package is cheaper even without those.
Virgin today offered me a TIVO box at first for same cost, with 2 months free. Then they offered me a few pounds off, 2 months free and no TIVO box.
I still think I might give Sky a go though a few people have said the broadband speed isn't that good, any comments on that??0 -
I bit the bullet and phoned Sky and said I would return for the right deal. The very helpful chap has given me the following.
Half price on any package for 12 months
1TB HD Box £49.99 (Free insulation) He also offered a standard Sky HD box for free (Without the recording function)
They will move my HD box from the living room to our bedroom and replace the sky+ box in the bedroom and stick it in the daughters room.
Over the moon with that. :beer:0 -
To all of you who have just been cut off or cancelled Sky recently.
I cancelled after haggling for a price (Entertainment Extra, Sports Pack & HD) & only being offered 20% off of my subscription & not HD in December, it was going up to £55 & I was paying £32, got turned off on 7th January. Could only receive Free Sat for Sky, so very few programmes.
I filled in the 'Why are you leaving' questionaire & was totally honest, said that the service & programmes particularly the Sport were excellent but I could no longer afford it. I had been with Sky from 1992 and I also mentioned that I didn't feel that this loyalty was being taken into consideration.
No contact from Sky at all apart from a letter a few days after my last payment telling me that I had cancelled my DD and would be charged extra for a paper bill if I incured any charges.
I was sent a letter on Saturday (25th Feb) 'Come back to Sky for half price'.
Gave them a ring & chatted to a very nice young lady, I asked her how much it would cost to reinstate the package I had before Ent Extra, Sports Pack & HD. She said £25 for Ent Extra & £20 for Sports Pack total of £45 but half price so £22.50. HD would be £10.25, so total £32.75.
I cheekily said how about half price HD as well, she didn't think this was available but I went ahead anyway. She told me that I would pay £56 for my first payment on 28th March as you pay a month in advance, then after £27.12 per month so HD was discounted as well. Result!!!!! I asked how long this would last & was told it was for a year.
I was switched back on straight away so I am now paying £5 less than the best deal I could get before I cancelled. Have made a note to ring them 30 days before this expires to have another crack at keeping the deal for a further year, we shall see.
So my advice to people who have cancelled is to sit tight and after about 7 weeks it appears that Sky will come to you. Don't bottle it and call them!!!!!!0 -
I bottled it then.But it still worked!!!!!!!!!0

Decided to keep Virgin broadband - which is 10mb, but due to be doubled to 20mb in a few months, as I knew I wouldn't get anything remotely like that with Sky and Virgin going to give me it for £16/month (from £21)
Dumping the Virgin landline completely-have 600 mobile minutes never ever get through
Getting Sky TV as Virgin want to charge a massive premium for what Sky offer as their basic package now (Sky1, Sky2, Sky Atlantic, SyFy, Sky Living, Universal, FX, Watch, Comedy Central, MTV). With £100 Quidco+£100 M&S, Sky works out at just £3.33/month
So in total will pay £19.33/month for super fast braodband and great telly!!!!
Think I will keep the Virgin landline till Sky installed as I think it needs a landline for activation????? Do you need to have a landline after that????0 -
Thought I'd better update people...
If you read my last post you'll know I rang them and got 25% off for a year no contract... Read the post for further details...
WELL... Had a call on my mobile tonight. Very nice lady saying my name was on her list of people cancelling. She wanted to know why - I explained costs etc. she offered.... 50% OFF!!!
Taken it... 50% off for a year, no contract:T0 -
Thanks to the advice on this forum, I have now cancelled my VM telephone and BB. I still had over a year to go on my contract but said I wanted to exercise my right to cancel due to the price increase. They did offer to continue at my usual price but I declined. I have just called Sky and been given line rental and unlimited BB free for a year (I do have the Sky tv package at present)! Also no installation charges although I don't currently have a BT line installed.
I'm so glad I checked the forum and will continue to do so in future.:j0 -

Still can't get a better offer from Virgin, so ended up joining Sky. All channels with Movies and Sports, 3 HD boxes, unlimited broadband and unlimited phone for £104.75 with £100 M&S vouchers and £165 Quidco cashback. Also with the Sky package I can drop movies and sports in the summer saving another £20 per month, wasn't possible with VIP50 on Virgin as I'd end up paying the same.0 -
Hi!
Just an update on our situation. We have called to cancel and we were offered by a very nice gentleman £21.50 pm for 9 months for tv+phone+broadband unlimited and no contract! Very good deal, we thinkwe have accepted it and will see what becomes available in 9 months.
Thanks to everyone for reporting their stories and to everyone that gave me advice on what to dothanks to you all, we are now paying less £17.75 pm!
Goal: Win a car (or cash to buy one)! -- Haha goal from when I was a student. Never actually won this but got a good job instead.
What I achieved:
Car paid in full straightaway.
Two properties fully paid. Wohhoooo!0
