10 days. do you think it is a good offer or could i hold out and get something better?0

Trying to haggle with sky....my payments are currently £45 a month for sky, broadband unltd and calls...
I've told them I can't afford the payments, their offer was
keep the same package at £45, but get rid of BT for my line rental and switch to sky...and pay nothing for 12 month.
saving £174 a year.
Do you reckon this is a good deal or do you think I could be really cheeky and ask for HD thrown in?
I personally don't think what we get for £45 a month is a great deal, we get movies, kids channels and music channels.
what is everyone else paying?
she is ringing back at 815:jMarried on 12.12.12 to the best man alive! - FACT!:j0 -
I am not in a cable area & got 50% off Ent Extra, Sports & HD though I had to haggle for the HD. Was without any sky channels for 6 weeks, but definitely worth it £27.62 per month for a year.0

Update:-
Just off the phone to VM and they've offered me:-
XL TV + XL TV Multiroom
XL Phone
L Broadband (was XL Broadband but I wasn't getting the speeds so won't notice any difference)
for £61.90
was going to pay £77
Pretty happy with that the lady was rather persuasive could've gone down the retentions route but overall I've got what I set out to do reduce my package to around the £60 mark!:T
RESULT :beer:0 -
Switched to VM on a cashback offer, worked out £5 cheaper a month than what we currently pay with Sky. Phoned Sky to cancel and was offered free line rental for 12 months effectively reducing my payments from £41 to £29 a month. I'm chuffed to bits. Have tried to haggle with them before and failed, it took actually placing an order with VM to make them reduce my price.0

Is this about right - what others are paying?, or does anyone think it can be bettered? I havent tried the whole 'im thinking of leaving' saga for a good 12 months now, so maybe Im about due a go..what do people think?
Many thanksThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
To cut a long story short, I cancelled Sky because they would not offer me a deal. I got a flyer from BT Vision in the the post, so I thought why not?.I stressed many times "I must have RF Out" so I can watch recorded programmes in other rooms like I can with Sky, otherwise I am not interested. I was assured I could do this with the Vision box, I thought about it, then rang again later, I stressed again It must have RF Out, when the lady once more assured me it had it and it would work, then I purchased it.
When the box came, sure enough, it has an RF Out, but you cannot enable it, I rang BT, who were now suddenly saying that the box will only support 1 TV only and cannot use the RF Out at all. They are now in the process of going to listen to a recording of my telephone call to see if I am lying about the lady telling me the RF Out worked. I have told them why would I lie? the box is useless to me if I cannot watch recorded progs. in other rooms, it was the only reason I would consider swapping to BT.
It was Monday I rang to complain, when they said somebody would listen to our telephone call then ring me back. I have since phoned twice saying it is urgent to sort it out out, and still no phone call from BT (now Friday), BT customer services are appalling and I will not go near them again.0 -

Did she 100% confirm that line rental was included in that? I know people have been offered 12 months free line rental in the past, which would make sense if that was so, but I would be worried that you had just got "Unlimited broadband, plus free evening and weekend calls for £7.50 (plus £12.25 a month line rental)"BaldyBeardy wrote: »I have a simple package: £20 per month for normal channels and Sky+ HD box but no HD, movies or sport.
I'm about to have a baby so lookig at ways of cutting costs everywhere. Sky doesn't escape this review. However I'm now a fairly low paying customer so would they do much to keep?
As an aside, I'm also going to be calling O2 about my mobile (ends June), O2 broadband (already out of contract) and BT line (also out of contract).
I'm keen on getting HD channels but don't really want to end up paying extra and also anything on demand which means I either go for Virgin Tivo or wait for Sky Anytime+
Anyone got any ideas if Sky will try to keep me, upsell or should I look elsewhere.
I'd prefer to stay with Sky for ease and get some on demand services. At the moment I'm thinking of taking O2's homephone for £7.50 per month (my BB is £6.49 for unlimited 7MB) and ditching BT. Anything from Sky would be a bonus.
Any ideas no matter how small would help me with my tactics.
Cheers all
Regarding TV, they probably will give you an offer, but it may mean acutally cancelling, getting cut off, and then waiting for a leaflet in the post offering you 50% off...
Regarding the internet and phone, you missed an offer from Sky a couple of weeks back for £100 cashback for existing customers taking phone and BB.... check the cashback sites, might still be around.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

How long ago did your BT services start? Can you not cancel under their cooling off period?A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
