That's very kind but...I am a regular pain in the derriere, since I will not accept stupid excuses....examples

We would rightly get shot if we expressed sentiments like those in school. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Not a great saving day, bought some stuff off ebay - Cheap gadgets (3 for £20 in all) but will protect my phone for the long term. Plus a few cheap presents for friends. Hopefully this'll be it in terms of expenses this week. Worked my socks off at work today, doing extra sessions every day at the moment before and after school - no rest for the wicked!Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

Anyway, week ahead: Meal out two days this week, friends bday and get together with friends - fortunately MOM will pay for one of the meals and I have enough shrapnel for the other meal with friends, not the bday. Am worried that I'm trying to over save at the cost of actually living our lives, and things happen (Not being deliberately vague honest) that make you think at the end of the day there's more to life than almost no mortgage; So maybe I'll slow down the mortgage overpayings, to a lower rate in light of enjoying life, e.g. a holiday and what not. That said we'll still be on to clear our mortgage by the end of next year.Anyway a lot to think about; need to ensure everything's a balance. Hmm.
Oh, 250 quid more off the mortgage too.Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

You're right.
It's very hard to get a balance, especially when it can become an obsession to OP even the smallest amount.
You have to enjoy life whilst you're young enough to be able to.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
I agree. keeping it all in balance is crucial.
Focus and obsession are similar animals. On is constructive, the other destructive.2007 started 25 yr mortg @£105,000 balance,
2009 started 20 yr mortg @ £99,000 balance
DEC 2010 @ £77700 Nov 2011 £66500, 2012 56500 balance
4 (ish)year plan to get be mortgage freekeep overpaying!

Well said Hastie... Need to get the balance right - Good comparative words too, but with very different impacts and meanings, not only on you but crucially on loved ones.
If you were wooing, there's a great difference between being focused on the girl of your dreams and being obsessive!Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

Minor annoyance:
I wish paypal and google pay system had some common sense, where if you're a regular user, you can build up credit of say £20 and then once it hits £20, it takes a single transaction out of your account, rather than having loads of small (1.50 here and 2.00 there) clogging up your bank statement!
Or once a week they take it out of your account rather than 4 separate small payments.
Just a thought but in my OCD world it would make such a difference.

Good - no cash out day, bought some sandwiches for tea (Long day at work) and pleased interest rates are low again for another month, although I don't think it'll be so good (interest wise) for much longer. It'll be a sad day for me when interest rates go up! I'l get through this week with £40 - £20 on the school system to pay for lunch, £15 on a meal out and some on sandwiches today.
Also, worried about what will happen to us in terms of pensions, both myself and MOM are teachers, so whatever happens will be a worry in terms of pension provision, esp. as it'll impact us when we retire/with how much etc.
Let's see how it pans out.Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

After a NSD on Sunday, I had to get petrol (Sooo expensive) and a Sainsburys shop, altough we did swap around from Tesco and we got a £10 off welcome voucher which meant we bought some extra stuff to get it up to the £50 trigger to get the £10 off - will hopefully wait for Tesco to bombard us with deals to tempt us back to their super lairFeb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

What a beautiful day today. Have £5 to last all week, (to quote the Beautiful South http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bt1RJS6tpro&feature=related) but i'll carry on regardless.
Was singing heartily to myself driving home today, which is an odd thing to do but it was such lovely weather I couldn't not. Abba blasting out, window down as I tear (below the speed limit mind you) through the backrows on my journey home, with what felt like the first "proper" day of the almost summer!
Cheap day, some pound coins on the cash machine to see me through the week, and a cheap meal of sausage soup for tea.
Nothing planned to spend between now and Friday, which would suit me down to the groundFeb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
