This was meant to happen with Smart cars (my mum bought one when they started being officially sold in the UK) but I never got a wave back when driving it.

JanineW - I've just bought an RX8 and have given out 2 waves so far and received 0 - I promise I'll keep waving (subtly, trying to still look cool!). Forum members of most cars are keen on it since they're so keen on their cars/community, but there are so many other people in the country for whom the car (even if it's flashy/sporty/unique, not so much ancient as they're too much hassle) is just a bit of metal that gets them from A to B.

How are you finding your RX8? Drinking fuel?! Mine certainly does, but I do love it more than any other car I've had, I think it looks gorgeous! Its actually my Husbands car, I have a boring Audi Estate for dogs and kids, but driving the RX8 is sooo much fun!!

    But what is the point?
    Mutual respect ?, doubt it.

A sense or awe? not if you have one to

A sense of comradery? then stop and talk to the bloke.

Or just drive on, you'll never see them again, ;););)

I have no idea what the point is to be honest, I don't initiate the wave, but do wave back!!

My brother does stop to talk to drivers with the same car, I would never go as far as to pull over and start taking to somebody, that just seems to be madness! :rotfl:

My first car was a Renault 4 and other R4 drivers always waved or tooted (may be it was out of shared sympathy).[/QUOTE]

Bless the little R4.- the one good thing about it was the doors were so ill fitting I slammed one on my 2 year olds hand once and it didnt mark him :)

It used to bounce over snow drifts brilliantly though. Of course there was that time I lent it to my friend who slammed it into reverse instead of first at traffic lights ..................

I have never waved at, or been waved at by, other Sierra owners. I think I will start doing it though, they have become noticeably rare over the last five years.

we drove from london to albania last year with our mini... from here to france then belgium then germany then.. then then..we could see less and less mini's the closer we got...
we got to albania from monte negro borders and the border control suposed to give you a entry paper if you have a foreign plate ...
it took the guy few minutes to find it on the list ;)

we stayed 1 month there...on the 20th day we were head on with another mini..i cant express the joy me and my wife had..we stopped and met the other couple who were from italy.. had a drink with them... like we new each other for ages.
    I know.. its sad lol

MG owners, Alfa Romeo owners, and the owners of classic cars all wave at each other (except the newer versions of the Alfas).

They are not waving, they are stopping themselves from laughing that some other fool has purchased one.;)
