Waving at drivers who have the same car as you?!

I think the reason these people behave like that is because they tend to be young and think that since they have a poverty spec BM or Merc that they are in some way superior, you see it a lot in London, especially with Golf drivers.
Ah, let them enjoy ita few more years and they will have a boring ford with a couple of kids stuck in the back. My son lives in London and got his first Golf this year - he said he was surprised at how people waved and flashed their lights but he rather liked it. He said that other VW Golf drivers also seemed more courteous at junctions

MG owners, Alfa Romeo owners, and the owners of classic cars all wave at each other (except the newer versions of the Alfas).0

When I'm in the mini (old mini) we always have other minis flash their lights at us or wave
When I'm in my 3 series I only wave/flash other drivers with modified 3 series. If I waved at all of them I'd spend more time waving than steering! This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -

Yes, they really are that common.:rotfl:;)0 -
Standard for Fiat Coupe drivers too!0

I thought it was only me that got waved at! I have a PT Cruiser and get waved at by other cruiser owners all the time. To be honest though I pretend I haven't noticed as feel a bit of a prat waving back.
Hubby has a PT Cruiser and I'd say 3/4 of the PT Cruiser drivers seem to wave or nod or something.0 -
This was meant to happen with Smart cars (my mum bought one when they started being officially sold in the UK) but I never got a wave back when driving it.
JanineW - I've just bought an RX8 and have given out 2 waves so far and received 0 - I promise I'll keep waving (subtly, trying to still look cool!). Forum members of most cars are keen on it since they're so keen on their cars/community, but there are so many other people in the country for whom the car (even if it's flashy/sporty/unique, not so much ancient as they're too much hassle) is just a bit of metal that gets them from A to B.0 -
As someone else has said my parents had 2 citroen 2CVs (not at the same time!) and used to wave/be waved at by others. Its official Deux Cheveaux club policy I was always led to believe.0

But what is the point?
Mutual respect ?, doubt it.
A sense or awe? not if you have one to
A sense of comradery? then stop and talk to the bloke.
Or just drive on, you'll never see them again,;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
My first car was a Renault 4 and other R4 drivers always waved or tooted (may be it was out of shared sympathy).0
