  • Just read through this entire thread today and can't believe the audacity of the B&G to expect OP to pay for outfits and such like.

I think the OP is better off without friends like this.

If I were the OP, I wouldn't hesitate in a few months time in printing off this thread and sending it to them in the post.

Although still out of the whole wedding fiasco my friends have received wedding invites including a request for cash and follow up texts with suggestions of minimum amounts.

I agree i'm best of out of it...just plays on my mind when people ask me why i'm no longer best man and have to explain the story.

The suggestion from the "family" was to have a whip around with everyone putting in £30 each. This is even to ppl who are only invited to the evening do and to some friends who are very very strapped for cash. Some comments have been:-

    - "Well we'll put in the same amount he gave for our son's christening a few weeks ago"....."how much did he give"....."er nothing"

    - "I wondered why I have been invited ....now it all rings true"

    - "sod that"

Just skimmed this thread - glad we're just going to get two people off the street as witnesses if this is what goes on when you do it "properly". ;)
