I went mad and ordered courgettes from Asda online. (I know how to live dangerously) - despite never having been introduced to one or being eyeball to eyeball with one. :eek:
I now have three wee green things that look like wannabee cucumbers.
What do I do with them ? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Courgette bread is always lovely. If you also have bananas that are about to go off, banana courgette bread is one of the yummiest things you can make.Dec GC; £208.79/£220

If you eat trout, they are lovely cooked with trout, simply sliced and baked in foil with the trout, or poached with the trout in milk. I like them made into ribbons with a potato peeler and lightly steamed for a few minutes and then make a sauce with mushrooms, garlic and cream and salt and pepper and having it either on its own as a light meal or as a side dish. You can also use them in cakes. Itf you make a chunky vegetable and tomato soup simply slice them and put them in. I grate them and carrots finely and add the to spag bol or any sort of dish with a sauce to get extra veg in, they "melt" and disappear.It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Can you eat them raw ? In salads ? I made soup today so can chuck some into that - how long should I simmer it for ?
Ooooh I feel like such a yuppy !0 -

They don't take long to cook in boiling soup, about ten minutes I guess. They don't have a huge flavour themselves, its a nice delicate flavout, and quite wet, with a bite. I am hopeless at describing things. I once did a wine appreciation course, I knew what I meant but no one else did
:rotfl: at Mardatha being a yuppy eating courgette!

Courgettes are fabulous sliced lenthways nice and thin, brushed with olive oil and griddled until they have black stripes on them. Then sprinkle on a little salt and a good squeeze of lemon and eat - pure bliss and I can eat these all day0

I have three. I will play with them for the next few days.
