Anyone Like Fast cars

You need something with a minimum of 500bhp for that situation, drop a cog, boot it and watch 3,4,5,6 cars fly by.
That was the beauty of my Westfield, you can pull out of a junction, people will flash you with disapproval, but by the time their lights go out your off down the road doing the speed limit
Same goes for overtaking, ive pulled out to overtake and the oncoming car in the distance has flashed in disapproval, but ive pulled back in several hundred yards before any danger, leaving them looking ever so slightly daft. :rotfl:
1 articulated lorry and six cars with a brief squeeze of my big toe and in 1/3rd the distance most normal cars would need, can't beat it......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Obviously the person you were referring to was unable to judge your speed in the time available, but if you actually think about it you will understand that putting another road user in a situation where they fear a head on collision is not a clever thing to do. Head on collisions do occur, often in situations where people in "fast" cars misjudge the space available.0 -
I like fast cars!
An extra £400 on fuel is dwarfed by the depreciation on a new car - what's your budget and what are you thinking of buying? Sounds like you want to keep some practicality, so I'll just recommend a 3-series coupe with a 6-cylinder engine (go for anything 323 upwards, ignore 320s) and there's something for your budget between £800 and, um, how much is a new M3? £60k?0 -
Some of the BMW diesel engines are economic and seriously fast.
I'd second the BMW diesel. A 3-4 year old 330D will deliver 0-60 in 6.7 seconds, and still return 42mpg when driven enthusiastically. The newer versions (post 2007) are both quicker and more economical still.
If you are worried about the costs though, bear in mind a fast car is likely to have higher running costs overall - larger, low profile tyres will cost significantly more along with performance brake components.0 -

It's correct, but usually this occurs when they overtake where they really shouldn't... Like round a blind bend. 9 times in 10 when a fast car does this it's either a boy racer or someone in a very expensive car who's thinking "how very dare the world hold me up in my expensive car".
The people who can afford to drive those cars are often the last people that should be.
Also people don't normally overtake when they can see on oncoming car, no matter how far away it is, this means most people will feel uneasy at the sight of an oncoming overtaking car. But in addition, people don't generally associate kitcars with high performance and most would assume that something built in a shed would be very slow indeed.
The biggest danger is other drivers making irrational manoeuvres purely to hinder your progress. As any biker or the driver of any small "proper" sports-car will tell you.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The point I was trying to make was that knowingly making another road user "uneasy" as you put it is not a good idea. Their unease, whilst it might be unfounded, might be the very thing which leads them to make an irrational manoeuvre. When I drive a low open top car, I drive with self-preservation uppermost in mind.0

Still sounds like you're sitting in the engine room of a tugboat when you're driving one though.0
