I'm lucky if I get into the 20's as far as MPG is concerned.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Have both.A daily driver with good mpg and then something fun for evenings/weekends.The cheapo daily offsets the impracticality of your real car.
I went from a 60mpg diesel, to a 30mpg warmish hatch, to a 10-25mpg money pit.I had a lot of work done on it and after a lot of stress with the garage that did the work I stored it for 5 years. In between I had a child which meant I didn't have money to fritter away anymore but now I've now brushed off the cobwebs and am actually looking forward to enjoying it again.
I also have a boring daily driver which is actually part of the reason I decided to put my beastie back on the road as I had previously kept temptation at bay with a clio 172 which is actually a fairly good all-rounder.0 -
Depreciation is often the biggest killer when it comes to fast cars.
Plus some of the road tax costs are horrendous0 -

I just wondered if anyone has any tips or advice really?
I'd pay £1000, hell even £2000 more a year if it meant not getting stuck behind some dithery old fart in his/her R wagon 3, 4, 5, 6 cars ahead of me every morning!!“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The cure is to get up earlier, leave home earlier and then you can chill out on your journey.;)0 -
My favourite car was the Honda CRX Del Sol - 1.6l so not ridiculous in tax, about 40mpg, low-ride two-seater with hard-top convertible
I had two - the second one was modded up to the eyeballs with bad boy exhaust, heated leather seats etc and could easily hold its own next to a brand new Merc.
It was 13 years old and just £3,500 in that spotless conditionMortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

You need something with a minimum of 500bhp for that situation, drop a cog, boot it and watch 3,4,5,6 cars fly by.0 -
I've got a Focus ST and get around the low 20MPG region. But I have a Yamaha 125 as well which gives me about 80MPG so it's not all bad if I use the bike lots.0
