sami m'dear, I feel bad that your first foray into cfr cooking wasn't as nommy as you'd have liked :(

I do hope you'll experiment and let us know.

Shall I suggest a tad more sugar in the recipe? Or shall I say if using a higher cocoa bar do it :)
    aww don't worry lovely! :)

I would maybe say that it isn't a very sweet cheesecake and extra sugar can be added to taste and that its not recommended to use a high cocoa solid choc as it is too bitter for this particular recipe.
but I'm sure you can word that more eloquently!

I asked on the FB group but no one has replied; Is there a search box on the site? I couldn't see one when I went back to find the recipe and I couldn't find it in the grouped recipes - might just be me but I hate having to guess which group the thing I'm looking for is in and usually just like to type in a box.

    Hello,

Disappeared to get my head back together.

So far this week we've had chilli, veggie burgers and a tweaked roast chicken dinner.

I tweaked the chicken dinner, by roasting instead of poaching the chicken, as requested by DH, served it with roast potatoes, carrots and BNS, all done together in the oven. I used leftover veggie burger mix for stuffing, very nommy and gravy.

Tonight I'm making a tweaked pasta carbonara, I'm adding mushrooms and peas.

The rest of the week we're having
    Sausage Mash veggies and gravy
    CFR Spanish omlette
    Pizza

Allegra & Aless, thanks for the thoughts, I'm not averse to giving it another go, I've got a stash of Asda's own brand milk, dark and white choc i bought when on offer (when i was too snobby for SP:o) I might make the topping on its own as an icing first :)

    Hi Sami :)
I always use the Asda SP chocolate or Tesco value chocolate for baking, and have done for some considerable time, before I had CFR :)...
No one ever notices the difference ;)

Adding mushrooms and peas to the carbonara, very yummy, adds a lovely touch of colour to the plate too. Katie asked for more!

    Hi sami :)

I think a search box would be very useful. At the mo, I lack the skills to make one, but I'm going to have a think about the best way. If you or anyone reading who cares about the project are willing to offer any techno advice on that I'm very willing to take it :)

I should probably explain though that when testing a recipe like the cheesecake I don't usually link to it from the main site, this is just so that joe public doesn't find it and get miffed by accident, whereas MSE friends know it is a work in progress!

I tested the chocolate brownies on some guests this morning. I used 150g plain SP choc and 50g milk SP choc. They came out lovely and chocolatey, quite gooey and very rich. A big hit with everyone.

I did spot a couple of typos in the recipe. In the method it states "melt the the chocolate..." then a little further along it says "mix together the, flour..." ie a comma that shouldn't be there.

A really yummy recipe though, and one I shall definitely be making over Christmas. It tastes really naughty and indulgent. If you wanted to make it look a little bit posh I think it would look lovely with a light dusting of icing sugar.

I'm also hoping to try out the pork sometime this week, though not yet quite sure when I'll be fitting it in.

thank you :) I have amended the recipe pages accordingly :)

May I put the bold part on the site?

    Of course you can :)
  • Mardatha - I don't like kidney beans either so use canellini beans in place.
