Just discovered these on "budgeting and current accounts" thread posted by following - with thanks to "pbfhpunk", "Cara79" and "meinnit".
The first one has a calculator to show what you should be earning for your chosen lifestyle :rotfl: - you can play around with the figures to your heart's content....all useful at working out tax and ni and what you're left with:eek:

DontDoDebtKids wrote:Yup. Now, what is the saying? Something like:
Income: £100, Expenditure £99 = Happiness
Income: £100, Expenditure £101 = Misery
Mr. Micawber from David Copperfield:
"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen six, result happiness.
Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery."
(I'm sad enough recite the quote whenever I look at my bills...)

What's quite annoying is that i'm now 350 quid a month better off than I was this time last year (end of student debts, new job) but because I've moved to london, I don't actually have much more money left at the end of the month.0

I am 24, I work as a Deal Co-Ordinator dealing in equipment leases for business. I take home £1200 a month + 15% bonus a year.
I also have a villa in Spain (the reason for having all our credit cards/loans of approx £85k as we had to lay down £100k deposit, and only had £15k equity in our flat here) We bought this a year ago for rental investment and in that year, we have made £22k cash in rentals.
The other half will qualify as a Primary School Teacher in January and at present doesnt earn a penny. She will be taking home approx £1300 which will be great as even though we get good money from the villa it only covers our minimum payments on cards/loans!
Hopefully in 5-6 years time when we want kids, the credit cards/loans will be clear and we plan on selling the villa in Spain which should have £200k equity in and being mortgage free here. Luckily we bought the villa for £100k less than its valuation as the "old german man" was looking at having to pay a tax of £220k if he didnt sell it before he died.
I hate struggling like we do now and having debt but if we look towards being mortgage free by the time we are 35/40 we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!0 -

I reckon its not what you make but what you spend! I know loads of people of far more money than I do but are constantly broke 4 days before the next payday. Sometimes I see others on better money than me but its wrong to get greedy and try to emulte other people. I get a better kick thinking I'm managing my money better than spent thinking I wish I was on £Xpa0
