I take home just over £2K per month after tax and pension contributions etc. I really enjoy my job - I do development work for a high tech machine part manufacturer. Multi disciplined- electronic, optical, mechanical etc. I've spent the last 3 years pretty much devoted to writing lines accurately onto metal surfaces using high powered lasers. Loads of intellectual stimulation and fun people to work with. Very lucky.
I've turned into a right saver too, so I've planned carefully so that my fixed costs of living are around 50% of my income.Happy chappy0 -

I too work in IT.
I spend my some of my time blocking pornography. Some of my time blocking spam. Some of my time blocking miscreant wanna-be hackers from Iran. Some of my time blocking those people we call "customers" when they do really stupid things. Some times I get to break into people's networks and say - "Maybe you should have done that better." Some of my time I spend developing new systems and services.
Some parts of my job are easy: "Is she naked - Y/N"
Some parts you need to understand things like processor affinities and what constant instruction cache invalidation will do for your execution time/job processing rate.

Hi Guys

Take home usually £5200.00 per monthSmile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Hi,
I am self employed, tryong to sell industrial machinery to a market which is fast disappearing to far off countries which are not being strangled by red tape and beurocracy!! Current monthly income - nil, but do have good months - I think.
Why do I do it? Too old for a paper round - too young to retire!I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Wow- isn't it weird how there's such a huge range of wages on the DFW board? Some of you earn more than twice as much as me! My OH has always been insistent that the main reason we're in debt is because we don't earn enough, so maybe this will make interesting reading for him."People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

If you spend more than you earn, you will end up in debt. Doesn't matter how much you earn or how much you spend, just the relative sizes of them."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I work in IT. Left school at 16 with my GCSE's, have had 3 jobs, each lasting a year (current one just over and still going).
I get paid £22,770. Take home is £1440 (ish).
I am well paid for my age, but it still doesnt seem enough. I live with my girlfriend, we have a combinded income of £39,000. My friends only earn half what i do, i dont see how some people live off that, and take the crap there employers throw them (a rip off food shop beginning with W)0 -
