Last year we were paid by Tesco to drink Spanish plonk (depending on you valuation of the points gained.)

So keep your eyes peeled for BOGOFF's and double points to be used in conjunction with this offer.

Yes, that deal last year kept me in booze for ages!
'Too good to be true' I thought, and it looks like they are not going to repeat it. Next year my vouchers start to expire so if there is no new wine deal I will have to start using them up on boring stuff.

Yes, it looks like this has not been thought through properly and the staff not given enough training. They should just allow you to double up and use on anything.Would be easier for everyone customers and staff alike.

Converted mine yesterday for Opticians, fabulous bargain, the eye test was FREE, I got two pairs of variofocals, both frames and lenses on BOGOF, then used my double up vouchers to pay - very pleased, my bill should have been £589, reduced to £254 with the BOGOFs (protective coatings not included in BOGOFs), then used £270 in double up tokens (from £135 in clubcard vouchers) so £65 cash to pay

As other people have said, work out what you want to buy first, I didn't read the small print and queued to convert the vouchers, only to be asked how much I wanted to exchange for what, so went to the opticians, worked out how much I was spending, then had to queue again to convert them, and they were LONG queues - one lady had a bit of a fit, as she queued and didn't have her clubcard with her - and couldn't change hers - so remember to take your clubcard as well as your vouchers.

Thanks for the tips as I'm thinking about using my vouchers for new glasses, don't suppose you noticed if they had any rimless frames?

They've just launched 25% off Australian wine, plus a further 5% off for 6 bottles. Good, but you can't use double up vouchers. unlike last year. Pity, and no 300 points per bottle-type stuff going on, like last year as well.

It will go down as a vintage year - still got some of that Montysomething cava where it was 25% off, plus a further 5% for 6 bottles, plus 300 points per bottle - they were indeed paying you to take it away.

    They were the days...

if you go to the link above - if it doesn't work just google Tesco opticians, some rimless frames are shown there, although I seem to remember there being more in the store, but that may have been semi-rimless, I didn't take much notice as I have tried these before and bust them twice, I am too clumsy, so have given up on them!

Had a good look at the wine on the 25% off today and there is nothing on it that hasn't been cheaper in the past few weeks. One example is the Mcguigan Bin 218 Chardonnay Viognier 75Cl that is now at £7.49 from £9.99, but last week it was half price at £4.99.

Just be careful as the signs say 25% off all Australian wine but in my local store some of the SELs already had the 25% knocked off but some didn't.

Double Points isnt ending anytime soon, but I know the Rewards exchange is being reduced from 4x to 3x in November so Id suggest everyone exchanges before then if they're saving up for holidays etc.
Lets face it when Martin Lewis started bleating about point loop holes we all knew things were going to change or end due to the amount of people he sends his email to.
I can only thank the arsnaljamie for giving us early warning so we can now plan to do something with the vouchers we currently have rather than sitting here and letting them become devalued in November.
There may well be positives that come out of here too, when tescos sales stay flat at christmas they may produce more bonus points to take advantage of.
Though i do feel this is a stratergy by tescos to reduce the long term value of the scheme discreetly, keeping double points going and marketing that as the reason why they are having to reduce the 4x to 3x then we shall see perhaps just after christmas the removal of double points altogether just in time for the new head of tescos to take over to over see a few years of negative sales growth due to the manipulation of clubcard.
Though you have to admit with inflation increasing prices it has become easier to hit £50 thresholds to gain 1000 points when offered.
I shall look carefully on how to spend the remaining deals i have prior to Novembers potential devaluation.

There have been some people, and I expect there will be more, who get to the till get the items and their vouchers scanned then annouce that they want them double-up for those particular items e.g. toys. And then look bemused that it can't be done.
Once they are scanned at the till, they are redeemed, if you want them convert into 'double-up' rewards - first see the special booth or CSD!!

Had a whinge at Tesco Customer Services about how the reintroduction of the double up scheme was prejudiced against those in the Christmas Saver scheme and received this in reply.

"I am really sorry that you are unhappy with the reintroduction of the 'Double up' scheme.

I can completely see where you are coming from as to benefit from the offer you would have had to come out of the Xmas Savers Club before the cut off date for the August statement (27/07/10). And as you would not have known the 'Double up' offer was going to be reintroduced, you were none the wiser.

I am really very sorry about this and I can understand why you feel that this is prejudiced against
those in the Christmas Saver Scheme. We really do try to keep all our customers in and out of the Xmas Club happy by setting up different schemes and offers. I am really disappointed that you feel let down.

We find all customer feedback incredibly valuable as this helps us when we are looking at ways to make our service better. I would like to assure you that I have fully logged the points you have made. These will be directed to the correct area of the business.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share your views with us."

"The choice for the millions of Clubcard holders is quite simple. First check the Tesco Clubcard rewards brochure where you can trade in a £5 voucher for rewards with a £20 list price. If there’s anything there you want, go for it.
"If not, and you're planning to buy something at Tesco that is part of the new exchange programme, do that ASAP."

Nooooooooo.......... Martin is completely ignoring that a lot of the Reward options are completely overpriced with 'Deals' so that you are not getting four times the face value!

Everyone knows that holidays are completely overpriced but I was looking at the below for £240 in Deals

    http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/product.aspx?R=1407&bci=4294966207|Activity%20Days*4294966498|South%20of%20England*4294966017|Flying

However directly this only costs only £119 in cash.

Anyone who can use the double ups pofitably (ie has a baby), wouldn't always find Martin's 'Use Deals first' to be very moneysaving!! (when you take into account the efforts of ordering the tokens and having to then post them to the suppleir within a short time window)

just wanted to say i dont think all the holidays are overpriced at all you just need to know what you are looking for, i booked through tesco site with cosmos, we are doing a family of 4 to bulgaria for 2 weeks, we booked over a yr and half ago and they were the cheapest around, i couldnt get a better deal on the internet or in the travel agents, we are going soon and i have just checked again last week to compare it and again couldnt beat it so i think i got a great deal booking my holiday through tesco vouchers
