Double Points isnt ending anytime soon, but I know the Rewards exchange is being reduced from 4x to 3x in November so Id suggest everyone exchanges before then if they're saving up for holidays etc.

According to the Tesco website double points are ending on 27th August.
  • I dont think they will as they only did it once last year around the same sort of time.Although I hope they do after the Nov statement. I think they must have done it just before the new statement instead of just after - very sneaky. I will just make sure I dont lose out again and will advise my friends and family the same. Why save it that way if you cannot benefit? I would rather save them in my drawer at home as they still have a 2 year use by on them. They might not do this sort of promotion again but Im taking no chances!
  • Thats the previous line from MSE:
"The terms and conditions say the scheme can be pulled at any moment, and while I'm sure it will last for a few more months, unless Tesco tells us the deal's permanent, no one should see the extra points as more than a short-term marketing gimmick."

But Ive heard its likely to go beyond 27/08/10.

As for Rewards, Im sure there will be an official announcement with the date but I only know its November 2010.

Very very cynical move on Tesco's part. Why dont you all vote with your feet and shop elsewhere. That's what i'll be doing.

That will be my course of action. Let's face it, Tesco are not the cheapest and for many people the 4x in deals changeup is the only thing that makes Tesco competitive. Once this is reduced and double clubcard points gone, they will probably not be competitive when compared to others.

One irritating point to watch, should you choose the in-store exchange option - make sure you get vouchers for the exact amount you want, not more.

I decided to get a Nokia 5230 on PAYG at the Watford Tesco Extra yesterday, list price £89.97 and therefore (I thought) requiring £45 of vouchers under the double-up scheme. Exchanged my £45 of vouchers at Customer Services and went to the in-store phone shop to get my new phone. I handed over my 9 x £10 'till receipts' (that I received for the vouchers) and the last one (for £10) would not go through 'the system' as it did not match the £9.97 outstanding balance.

I said that it was only 3p, I didn't mind, they could keep it. They said 'no, it doesn't match the system, you can't use it' - a classic 'computer says no' reaction. I said that I didn't see why it was my problem, I'm handing over payment for more than they need, why is it my problem? Answer - computer says 'no' etc etc. Eventually I asked what was the cheapest thing I could buy to take me over the £10 voucher, and I am now the unhappy owner of a really bad phone cover (that doesn't fit) and £1.96 poorer...

Small point, but irritating - as is the Tesco approach to their customers.

There has been loads of problems with people using the double up vouchers today at my local store, especially on the self serve tills. Also on what is classed in certain categories.

I have not received my vouchers yet, but had a letter from Tesco this morning. They are continuing the double points scheme, but for those who exchange vouchers for Airmiles (like me)! instead of 60miles for £2.50 you now get 50 miles (as from 1st September).
Any vouchers can be exchanged for the 60 mile exchange rate until 1st September 2010. Lets hope they pull their finger out and get mine to me soon!
I took advantage of collecting extra points for various promotions, but knew at the time that the points would be applied to my November statement.......good timing Tesco:(

Converted mine yesterday for Opticians, fabulous bargain, the eye test was FREE, I got two pairs of variofocals, both frames and lenses (the made for you ones, recommended for new variofocal user) on BOGOF, then used my double up vouchers to pay - very pleased, my bill should have been £589, reduced to £254 with the BOGOFs (protective coatings not included in BOGOFs), then used £270 in double up tokens (from £135 in clubcard vouchers) so £65 cash to pay - so cost me £200 for two pairs of variofocals.

As other people have said, work out what you want to buy first, I didn't read the small print (because I need new glasses LOL !) and queued to convert the vouchers, only to be asked how much I wanted to exchange for what, so went to the opticians, worked out how much I was spending, then had to queue again to convert them, and they were LONG queues - one lady had a bit of a fit, as she queued and didn't have her clubcard with her - and couldn't change hers - so remember to take your clubcard as well as your vouchers.
