So TV Licencing (aka the BBC) trawl through various internet message boards to see what everyone is saying about them.

    Interesting.

It's possible one of their guys reads these forums at home (pretty much every other occupation seems to be represented on the forums).

oh, when watching tv, does anyone else's sound disappear for 3 seconds about every 15 minutes or so or is it just my tv?!!?!?

This is normally due to the tracking methods employed by TVL you can try coating the rear of the TV with good quality baking foil to stop the signals.

i don't pay mines, does this mean they'll catch me? I haven't had one for 4 years now and gotten away with it, no one has ever come to my door, despite the silly letters they send................

...when you buy a new tv and they ask for your address, how can the shop prove you're giving them the real address???!!?!? hmmm...

Because public service broadcasting is state-funded, rather than by adverts...do you really want our TV to become like the USA's?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Just don't use the TV until you move in properly.

Listen to the radio, use a catch up service on the internet, watch DVDs.
No need for a licence then.

And buy it in September so you get a full months. (Don't buy at the end of August)

Now THAT! is an interesting one, and I pass no comment, but:-
You used to require a radio licence to listen to radio, but I thought it was now integrated into the TV licence.
So, if you have no TV licence, do you have no radio licence either?

No doubt someone will swat that one up, but as it's of no interest to me, I'll watch out for the answers.

The money raised by the TV licence does pay for BBC radio but you don't require a licence to listen to the radio. Haven't needed one for many years.

Well you have an option to stop paying and either stop watching any "broadcast" television or try and find £70. Or you could not pay the licence and continue watching telly with the threats of them knocking at your door. They won't prosecute without evidence. The choice is yours.
