No Buying Toiletries in August Challenge!!!

  • Tonight I've been sorting out a few bits and pieces to take to a charity shop. I've included an M&S Radiance Face Balm. It was part of a gift set and I have tried it but don't like it. I've also put in an eyeshadow from a gift set that I won't use. So I'm feeling pleased with myself that I've reduced my stash slightly!

I finally fell off the wagon :( and spent £1.79 on yet another nail polish, lime green this time:o
But I did last 17 days without buying anything :p

Wouldn't beat yourself up over £1.79.

Another UU for me today - a bottle of LE C&P. Won't buy again cos it doesn't work anymore. Am desperately seeking HG cleanser. x
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

After I wrote my post about the nail varnish I found the thread about Body Shop 25% code and have accidently spent £22.50. Oops. But you're right, I deserve a treat, I've been very good till now, and I will definitely use what I've bought:D

lynseydee and Cherry Blossom - You've made me feel a bit better, in a twisted way!

Glad to be of service! :D

Hope everyone's had a good day!

My first UU to report! A Loreal DeMaq eyemakeup remover - WWIBA - yes, I use a lot of eye makeup daily and this did the trick easily. Although I also tend to use the Dermo-Expertise or the No7 when they're on offer/with vouchers, so only likely to buy it if I couldn't get one of those cheaper.

Although I have another 4 or 5 bottles of eyemakeup remover, so not an issue yet!

I've just come back from my honeymoon and due to bringing back lots of the hotel toiletries I don't think I will need body lotion till the end of next year! One of my purchases since January that I did not need was body butter from boots as it was on offer and I thought I would need some but I have realised that actually body lotion lasts longer than I thought. Also I always forget that in the summer I mainly use spf lotion so I don't actually need that much. The hotel had some nice shampoo and conditioner too which I was kind of surprised about as I am a bit of a hair snob, as some shampoos leave my hair so tangled and disgusting. The cupboards are all full again so don't expect to buy any toiletries apart from toothpaste, mouthwash and LE skin tonic which I am hoping will be in a TSV pretty soon.

  • Congratulations Skaps on your wedding and wishing you a long and happy marriage

another couple of UU's to report:

john freida frizz ease - wiba - definitely, love the fact that I can get a brush through my hair without turning the air blue
pantene acqua light - this was a freebie sample and while my hair didn't swish it didn't break the brush either so might purchase this at some point

An update from me - I am still avidly following the thread, even though I didn't get round to posting last month!

    Used up: :j
Mitchum spray deodorant in Powder Fresh. WIBA? No. While I like Mitchum deos, my boyfriend thought that I got a bit stinky wearing this one. It was partly that the scent didn't suit me, but it's a shame, as I have another 7 of these in my stash (and some in other fragrances!).
Sainsbury's Active Naturals Purify Body Polish (travel size). WIBA? It's been discontinued, but it was good. I am now using a full sized one.
Sainsbury's Active Naturals Purify Bath Elixir. WIBA? Also discontinued, but would have bought again if it weren't. Had an uplifting smell.
Sainsbury's Active Naturals Rich Nourishing Body Cream. WIBA? Another discontinued item, but would have bought again. Smelt lovely, and moisturised well.
Boots Mediterranean lemon, rosemary & walnut hand cream. WIBA? Also discontinued, I liked it, and have purchased it several times in the past. Moisturised well and smelt nice.
L'Occitane Lotion Visage (lavendar facial toner). WIBA? Possibly. I remember my face not liking this when I first bought it (4? years ago), but I got on well with it now. Not sure if they do it any more, though!
L'Occitane Color Cream (a neutral eye base): WIBA? No. It was nice, but I prefer Clinique touchbase or the No7 eye base.
Molton Brown Total Make-up Cleanser (travel size). WIBA? No, didn't do anything for me.
Soap & Glory Endless Glove Dry Hand Cream. WIBA? No. It was alright, but I prefer the S&G pink one, or BS hemp one.
Vaseline cocoa butter deep conditioning body lotion. WIBA? Possibly, if it was on offer. Smelt nice and was ok at moisturising. I have others I like better.
Body Shop eyeshadow in Vanilla Cream. WIBA? Not sure they do this one any more, but I would buy BS eyeshadows after using this one. Wore well.
Boots double-faced cotton wool pads x2. One from home, one from bf's house. WIBA? Yes, definitely. I like to stock up on these when they're on offer, as they are by far the best cotton wool pads I've used. Although to be fair, the newer ones aren't quite as good as the ones I bought months ago - I think it's the pattern on them that's changed.
Body Shop new shampoos (samples). WIBA? I did buy one of them, but I'm not sure how often I'd buy them in the future. Sometimes they seem good for my hair, but sometimes they leave my hair in a bit of a mess. I think I would need to find a very good conditioner to use them all the time. I like the fact they're SLS and silicone free, though. I'd like to find a really good SLS free shampoo.

    Thrown out: :(
A hemp cream bought off ebay ages ago. Had gone all wrong.

    In: :o
Rather too much Body Shop stuff last month when they had such good deals on! I got a few brushes as they're really good, but also got a lot of other stuff too!
Two S&G Fab Pore (from freyasmum - thank you!). Seem to work well for me so far!
Some shea butter off ebay - to make my own body butter.
Some African Black Soap, cocoa butter and coconut oil. Am wanting to use more natural products, and am keen to see how these work out for me. The soap seems pretty good so far, although it's not exactly pretty!

Sorry for such a long post - hope to keep more up-to-date in the future! :)
