Finished off a body scrub this morning. According to my list I only have one more of these left but I'm sure I have another one so not too bad. Going to try using an exfoliating mitt for a while and see if I get on better with that than just using a scrub. Will help to use up some more of my shower gel too :j

  • Hi everyone, another newbie here! I've been browsing this site for a while and in this thread I think I may have found my spiritual home, so hope you don't mind me joining in! :)

Currently, I am drowning in hundred and hundreds of bottles, tubs, tubes and pots of various toiletries - I think I can honestly say I could get away with buying no new toiletries bar deodorant and what I have would last me at least 2 years! However, it's my downfall and I keep finding new products that I just HAVE to try, or feel like I deserve a treat... I'm sure you've all been there! Anyway, given the tiny space I have in my London studio flat (i.e, you couldn't fit a cat in here, let alone swing it!) it's starting to drive me mad. I'd throw a load out, only I couldn't bare the waste and that's not very moneysaving, is it? :rotfl:

So, I'm hoping you lovely people might be willing to help keep me on the straight and narrow - please give me a good shouting at if I buy things I don't need.

I'm also loving the camaraderie, knowledge and reviews coming through on here - unfortunately it panders to my 'I must go and try that' gene, but I'll have to create a list for when I'm finally allowed to buy again!

I'd post a list of my stockpile, but it would take you lot about a week to read and I wouldn't subject anyone to that!

Anyhow, wallet closed, challenge on... :T
Debt free as of 2010 :j - now to stay that way!

well i UU something today, though technically it was a throw away. Sanctury refreshing foot spray, i had to throw it because the bottle cracked, probably got stepped on or something. I would probably buy again, but i'm sure there's other one out there.

Two UUs for me this week:-

A small pot of S&G Flake Away WIBA? In travel size yes. I do much prefer the S&G Spa Sugar Scrub though and have one last huge pot of this left in my stockpile. I think I have a travel sized tube of LE scrub in my stash which I'll take away to Egypt with me in October otherwise I will repurchase Flake Away to take with me.

A huge bottle of Philosophy Vanilla Birthday Cake shower gel. A bit of a cheat as this actually belongs to my daughter but had I nothing open to put in my bath yesterday (haven't had a bath for ages - I do shower though folks!!) so asked if I could finish this off. Love the Philosophy shower gels and would repurchase this one for her. There are other Philosophy fragrances that I prefer over this one though.

Confession time now. On Friday last week I purchased the Laure Geller TSV on QVC. I use Balance N Brighten and love the blushers so figured it was a good buy. I do have Benefit Dandelion which is similar to the LG one but I'm coming to the end of this. The LG one is actually better than Dandelion.

Yesterday purchased some Vitamin E Oil from Superdrug. I have two Elemis Bliss Capsules left to use (will report on these whn I UU) and a 2ml vial (sp?) of LE Superskin Concentrate in my stockpile though I want to take this away with me in October so do need this.

Went into Boots for a meal deal and found Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference cream on sale n their clearance shelf. Down fro £44.00 to £12.50. I'm on my last pot of Elemis PCMC so this will do nicely for usage before Christmas when hopefully MrM will replenish my stock of PCMC! :money:
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Forgive me ladies for I have sinned....

(well - only a little, and im not certain that i have actually sinned, cos it means Ive only got one spare set!)

last week I bought some pantene in tesco (Ive UU the cheryl cole advertised one at last,so needed some) 500ml bottles are £1.95 at the moment!) coulndt get the aqua one, and i needed some then,so buoght the shiney one (with the conditioner too). today, i went to get some more batiste (or whatever its called - ran out of that a few weeks ago,not got round to replacing it till today - btw - got the diva one, smells lovely!! thanks whoever recommended it!!) and they had the aqua shampoo and conditioner in stock, still at £1.95, so i bought both....

so Ive only got one on the go and one in stock - but i kinda feel like ive sinned.....

oh - for some reason my reply where i said about the cheryl one was removed (god knows why,but it was!!) so here we go with that again - it was the colour protect one - WIBA?? no. I may be worth it, but the shampoo definately ( IMO!) isnt....

    Love this thread!

Starting as a student this September. Been on a great wage and living with partners for the past 5 years and yesterday I was given some boxes of toiletries from my previous life…. It has only just hit me that I’m going to be living on a very very strict budget!

I managed to sort through them and put a shoebox full (or more!) of unopened, lovely items I will be happy to give as gifts. One thing I pride myself on is my gift giving and I collect items cheap through the year and stash them away so I never have to splurge for birthdays, xmas etc, this way I tend to spend £5 total rather then an easy £20 quick buy.

Anyway! Just piled up the remaining stash. I think deodorant and toothpaste are all I’m going to need to top up in a long while… I thought the amount of stuff I put away for gifts was scary, but the amount of half used bottles I’ve obviously got bored of has given me a little panic!

Decided to use the vast supply of mini free sachets first as I have collected about 2 weeks worth of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and cream…

Shower gel+ body scrub: almost 20 bottles, though many of them are mini ones.

Hand soaps/shower soaps: 10! Going to donate some to the shared student bathroom….

Too much toner, make-up remover, face wash and face cream….

Creams: 10 or more…. Loads of these went into the gift basket, so can’t believe there’s 10 left!

Enough shampoo + conditioner to last the year.

Wow…. Embarrassed... I am such a hoarder and the boxes are taking up so much room under the bed.
19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!
:heart2: ..... to buy my first home. :heart2:
