.... And so it rumbles on. In each parking space in the disabled bays of a supermarket there is a blue graphic of a person sitting in a wheelchair. I have a blue badge, I sit and also need a wheelchair, so I reckon that trumps the majority of people using the bays for a start, though I must admit there has to be a very good reason for me to join the dodgems inside the supermarket.
Nonetheless, it's a question of 'first come, first served' and providing they have a blue badge I wouldn't begrudge them sitting in the car for the duration of their carers shopping trip as in my humble opinion we cause more problems being pushed around inside anyway.
I think abuse of the facility would come into it should they be relaxing in their car having a packed lunch afterwards!
Nice, sensible posts SandraScarlet by the way.

Under stressless conditions it takes me perhaps 5 min to be helped out of the car and into the wheelchair anyway, so this talk of "get out in the aisle before parking" is nonsense and it probably applies to a lot of wheelchair users. Reading some of these posts make me smile as it is evident that you don't just have to have a physical disability to qualify for a blue badge..
All BB users are equal; but some are more equal than others0 -

For your information IM not disabled and was quoting your post as you said people are bitter, nothing else.
By the way your last quote is just hilarious ,take it your or your husband is not confined to a wheelchairsigh
I said there was bitterness on the board. I'm so glad you find my post hilarious as I endeavour to put my point across politely, and inject humour too if I can.
BTW, my Grandmother had a wonderful put-down for people who offended her. It was taught to her when she first learned shorthand. The idea was that a good shorthand writer, as they were called, could take this down at speed, and read it back. I'd love to share it:
You're an unsophisticated individual, intoxicated with the exhuberance of your own pomposity. Do you mean to insinuate, that I should tolerate, such diabolical insults from an inferior like you, when your intellect is not sufficiently developed to comprehend my statement.
Granny was so right!

i am the driver lol shhhh dont tell anyone but cripples can drive sshhhhh dont tell anyone
and positive thinking will not help
now stem cell research will help if only it was allowed
I must have misread your post because it appeared that, whether you were the driver or not, you stated you were with your wife and son, and that they were helping you.
Well, to be fair, you didn't bite my head off, but instead, you had to resort to heavy sarcasm, rather than just thank me for my suggestion, or even ignore it, didn't you.
I tried to help by giving a suggested method that I use, but to no avail. May I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Peaceful New Year.

Thank you for that. I cared for my late mother, who was a wheelchair user, for decades, and my husband has had mobility problems for 20 years. In addition, he has Multiple Systems Atrophy, and I have breast cancer. This is just a statement of facts, not an effort to garner sympathy. But to me, my glass is always half-full, not half-empty.
In every situation, you will always find people who abuse it, for their own gains. No doubt, there are some BB holders who are not as disabled as others, but they are in possession of the badge, and have a right to use it. But far worse is that there are non-BB holders who will park in a BB bay, receivers of benefits who also work for cash-in-hand jobs, and Mothers who spend their child benefit on spray tans.
But with 60 million plus people in the UK, stringent tests can't be carried out on everyone, and the majority of people "stick by the rules". If I can find a BB space in which to park, when my husband is with me, I shall continue to do so, and won't drive past, just in case there is someone else who thinks they need it more than him.
And I hope that anyone reading this thread who thinks they may satisfy the criteria for a BB applies for one.

20 pages on blue badge police, blue badge holders should stop feeding the trolls so often and they would GO AWAY, if anyone questions you about your entitlement simply reply "im sorry, you didnt mention your medical qualifications to me? you mean you dont have any? " that shuts them up in an instant, if any trolls believe you are abusing an entitlement they need only write down the number on your badge and report you, problem solved, no bashing nessecary0

I've done this countless times before, and as soon as I leave the car, prior to helping my husband, I apologise to anyone who's progress I'm blocking. He doesn't have a wheelchair yet, but needs the door wide open in order to get out. Then I thank them again, before I drive properly into the space.
If you tried this, you would probably find any waiting drivers would help you, as it would mean them waiting less time. Reading your posts you appear to think that you have priority over other BB holders, and if other people "look" abled, as far as you're concerned, then they must be.

Intellect mmmmm where is yours !
What about wheelchair users who cant get out of the car and load their wheelchair up those that are confined to a wheelchair ,those who have children wheelchair bound ,oh yes lets just park the kid in front of the shops and go and find a space.
Why is it people need a bb to park near the entrance of a supermarket because of there so called severe mobility yet can shop around huge supermarkets ,defys the object of needing a bb doesnt it.
Wheelchairbound people also have vans that are very big with ramps etc ,its not possible to park in a normal bay sometimes.
Your understanding of some peoples disabilties is embarrasing to say the least.
:eek:Mum/carer to Dallas who has Aicardi Syndrome, everyday i look at you makes my life fulfilled.0
