This is true. You can receive HRM due to "severe mental impairment with severe behaviour problems". (ASD, ADHD, etc) HRM automatically entitles you ro a BB.
Yes you are right SH and have no problem with that at all.
Its the walking stick brigade that wind me up ,most of them carry their sticks as they walk.Mum/carer to Dallas who has Aicardi Syndrome,everyday i look at you makes my life fulfilled.0 -

What about wheelchair users who cant get out of the car and load their wheelchair up those that are confined to a wheelchair ,those who have children wheelchair bound ,oh yes lets just park the kid in front of the shops and go and find a space.
Why is it people need a bb to park near the entrance of a supermarket because of there so called severe mobility yet can shop around huge supermarkets ,defys the object of needing a bb doesnt it.
Wheelchairbound people also have vans that are very big with ramps etc ,its not possible to park in a normal bay sometimes.
Your understanding of some peoples disabilties is embarrasing to say the least.
:eek:
You obviously feel it necessary to resort to rudeness in order to get your point across. I had made a suggestion, based on methods that I used when helping my husband. That was all I did, in an effort to help all BB holders, both wheelchair users and others. At least pwales had the graciousness to apologise for his initial response to this post.
Obviously whatever I post is never going to be viewed by yourself as useful, so may I suggest that if you see anything posted by me in future, you ignore it.
I wish you and your family, and all other posters and readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Could you please elaborate what you mean by the walking stick brigage.
By the by, if my dad carried his walking stick, he would be on the floor, he should really be in a wheelchair for his own safety and stability. If I carried my crutch (I don't have a blue badge nor DLA as I have not applied for them), I wouldn't be able to move very far without having to stop due to severe pain and my legs refusing to co-operate.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I shouldn't, I know, but ...
surely people are allowed to vary their use of sticks and even crutches depending on conditions?
a poor example, because I am only temporarily incapacitated and I've never had a BB, just driven a few people who do have one, but ...
I'm using a stick when outside atm in my 'good' hand, because the thought of going over on the ice and wrecking some other part of my anatomy just doesn't bear thinking about.
however were I to find the paths clear, I would collapse it and carry it, because I don't need it inside.
and my mum often puts her stick in the trolley, so she's got both hands free, and having recently pushed a trolley with one hand, I don't blame her!
I'm not even sure what the walking stick brigade is, but it sounds as if Mum and I may be in it ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
very good,............... kn*b
thats the only reply which fits:cool:
the abuse button is just below press away :-)
There is no need to become abusive to other members just because you dont like the rules of the BB system.
Its a pretty simple rule really, If you have a BB, you can park in a BB Bay,if you dont, you can't. Like it or not, thats how the BB system works, taking your frustration of its unfairness out on others is not only out of order, its uncalled for and most certainly unwelcome in the forums.
If you have an issue with the way the BB system works, you call the DVLA, make a complaint, and call them anything your limited mind can comprehend, anything other than this, your wasting your breath, it changes nothing in relation to the rules, nor those who follow them.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Owning a BB is the ONLY qualification needed to park in a BB bay. It seems your understanding of this very basic rule and of others disabilities is just as embarrassing.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

They have the option of parking in a parent & child space. These spaces are generally wider and are near the entrance.Why is it people need a bb to park near the entrance of a supermarket because of there so called severe mobility yet can shop around huge supermarkets ,defys the object of needing a bb doesnt it.
Er, safety maybe? A blind person is entitled to a BB, but is capable of physically walking. Ditto the severely mentally impaired and the people with uncontrollable epilepsy.and my mum often puts her stick in the trolley, so she's got both hands free, and having recently pushed a trolley with one hand, I don't blame her!
If you have a trolley, do you need sticks too? I mean because you have something to help with your balance by using the trolley.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I'm sure I'm going to get grief for this but;
Blue Badge holders are allowed to park on single or double yellow lines as long as there is no obstruction to traffic. So, why are there disabled parking bays on roads in town centres? Why can't these be 'normal' bays?
A lot of the comments in this thread refer to supermarket car parks. The BB scheme does not apply to off-street car parks or private roads. They are as enforceable as Parent & Child spaces, however it seems perfectly ok for anyone to use these.
As an aside I don't understand why BB holders are exempt from parking fees and tolls etc. I appreciate that SOME disabled people may be unable to work and so rely on state benefits as an income.
I don't mean to cause any offence with these comments btw. Merry Xmas.0 -

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
shows how little you understand the BB rules, why would the Driving (and) Vehicle licensing Authority be interested in BB abuse?
At least pwales "limited mind" can get that the DVLA has sweet F A to do with ignorant people abusing blue badges wether they are abled bodied blue badge bay abusers or disabled people who allow their blue badges to be abused.0
