Hi
Sorry cant comment on the scam at all. But if you are thinking of purchasing another pair i recently got some from asos.com
They currently sell them for £98 including a styling product and you can often get discount codes for asos.
I think i paid around £75 after discount.
Hope this helps with your next purchase0 -
As you only made the transaction yesterday (?) ....... the software in place at most Banks will wait between 5 / 7 working days before deciding the request for the funds won't arrive and returning the funds to 'available'.
But the most likely is that the request will arrive and you will see the debit on your account either tomorrow (if your Bank runs updates on a Sun night) or Tuesday.
Thanks Mike.
I will post the outcome when i know what that is lol
As far as i know my bank DOES run updates on Sundays so i will check tomorrow . Im planning on cancelling the card tomorrow as well , just to put my mind at ease.
The only good thing is i CAN do a chargeback , not ideal but a small consolation at least.0 -
Sorry , i dont have a clue what all this "domain" stuff means....
Its a requirement for website owners to register their postal address
In the case of ONSALE-GHD.COM they state their details as Domain Name: ONSALE-GHD.COM
Registrant Contact:
DOMAIN WHOIS PROTECTION SERVICE
WHOIS AGENT
+86.02586880038 fax: +86.02586880038
10F West-Building, Yuhua Software Park, 310 Ningnan Road, Yuhua District
Nanjing Jiangsu 210012
CN
http://whois.domaintools.com/onsale-ghd.com
Tesco state their details as
Registrant:
Tesco Stores Limited
Tesco House, Delamare Road
Cheshunt, Hertfordshire EN8 9SL
UK
Domain Name: TESCO.COM
http://whois.domaintools.com/tesco.com
So ONSALE-GHD.COM are hiding their true address

They claim to use Worldpay
"We do not get to see your Credit or Debit Card details. They do not come to our server. All card transactions are processed by RBS Worldpay, part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. Worldpay guarantee the security of your card details. Credit and Debit card details are used only for processing your order, and are not stored anywhere once the transaction is complete"
If they do use Worldpay then the payment page would look like this https://secure.wp3.rbsworldpay.com/wcc/purchase
They claim to be an approved GHD retailer , but are not
If they have your card details what is to stop them selling the card and cvv number - just google search for "cvv dump" or "sell cvv" after all you dont know who they are
However if they didn't use worldpay as promised on their website , then they have obtained your card details unlawfully and it should just be a case of pointing out their claim to use worldpay to your bank
Actually they could have entered your card details into worldpay to test whether the card is active before selling your card details (an unconnected worldpay account eg a charity)
I am surprised your bank did not state the name of the merchant responsible for the pending transactionHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thanks Dr-Cuckoo
Thats a lot clearer now.
Im not guna sleep tonight lol , first thing tomorrow i will cancel my card .0 -
Would the distance selling regulations apply here?
I was thinking that they wouldn't apply because ONSALE-GHD.COM aren't UK based
But fraudulent use of a card would be covered by the Distance Selling Regulations and this places responsibilty on the bank (which is in the UK) So - would it be covered ? is that the point you were making
Payment by card
Where fraudulent use has been made of a consumer's payment card in respect of a distance contract then the consumer will be entitled to cancel any payment which has been made as a result of such fraudulent use.
Note that the Regulations refer to "payment card" and not simply credit card. This means that debit cards, charge cards and store cards will be afforded protection under the Regulations as well as credit cards.
http://www.out-law.com/page-430#card
Protection from payment card fraud
3.70 The DSRs say that if fraudulent use is made of a consumer’s payment
card when buying goods or services the consumer is entitled to
cancel the payment and be reimbursed by the card issuer.
3.71 Similar protection exists under the Consumer Credit Act 1974
however the DSRs extend this protection in relation to distance
contracts so that card issuers cannot charge the consumer for the
first £50 of loss arising from fraudulent use of the card.

They obtained your card details under false pretenses though
At the top of the page you see the McAfee Secure banner "McAfee Secure - tested daily"
McAffe are a large Computer Security /Software company

the hoax link is -

They have your card details and the card is still active
Easy to prove that you have been a victim of fraud and the card payment system has more protection than "phishing" for exampleHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Dr Cuckoo
Thanks for that post , it was informative.
How the heck do you know so much ? lol
Any how...i have been lying in bedworried sick incase my bank account gets cleared during the night...so what i have done is i have just used online banking to transfer all my money into my daughters account.
To be honest the account which has been compromised is only my "direct debits" account so theres not much in it anyway , only about £750 , however in saying that , everything that WAS in it has now been safely transfered to my daughters account so at least i can sleep a bit easier until i can telephone my bank to have the card stopped.
If any scammers wish to use the account now theres only 72p left in it and NO overdraft available lol.0 -
Lol Joanne.
My mum was worriedd about me getting scammed online... Well if they want the £8.50 or so that tends to be left after the weekly shop and the bills things must be bad in scammer land.
GHD's are very good, but I've got a pair of straighteners that I got half price from Tesco last christmas, Remington or Babyliss I think that are every bit as good, And that's a compliment from me, as I have the world's worst hair to straighten, very thick and very wavy!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o
