I've read your post and whilst I agree it foolish to buy from a website your not sure about...

Why do you assume that they would be fake, as the real ones are clearly made in China and they appear to have requested the amount agreed from your bank.

Anyway, if all else fails... If your debit card is a Visa Debit, Visa Electron or MasterCard Debit you would have the ability to request a chargeback via your bank, if they are fake etc.

What makes you so sure that ghd's are made in china ?

Would a normal website selling ghd's have to state in your order that you require a "uk plug"?

    1. Because that's where they are all made / sourced from now. Used to be Malaysia / South Korea

    2. If they're selling stuff made for the Eurozone and it's got a Europlug - yes. I bought some Sennheiser wireless headphones from Amazon (UK) a little while ago and they were shipped from one of their German partner firms and with a Europlug I had to get a converter for.

Ummm...maybe i have been too quick to react then......

guess it's just a matter of waiting now , wait to see what actually transpires.

I think i am also wary of the company because of their lack of response to all my emails. I have sent quite a few and yet they have sent just one in return and come to think of it that ONE which they did send didnt even correspond with mine....

Just checked my online banking and they still havnt completed the transaction... my available balance is still down by the £57 but my TOTAL balance is still £57 more and theres no transaction showing for the sale......maybe they wont take it after my angry emails lol

Do the straightners perform something special as opposed to a set bought from argos etc, £57 for hair straightners

Having short hair and so not using straighteners myself , i can only answer that question based on what my daughters and my best friend (who happens to be a very good hairdresser by trade) tell me.......

GHD are the ultimate tool for hair straightening !

Read some reviews on the internet and you will see what i mean.

I have just been looking at some ghd's from REPUTABLE seller's and they are £120 so regardless of whether or not i receive the £57 i wont be letting my daughters use them....i fully intend to get them a pair of the £120 one's . My girl's safety is paramount.

What you mean the fake ghd's ?

Yesh , thats my worry. i have read so much on the web about just how dangerous these fakes really are . Thats why i wont let my girl's use them even if they DO arrive in the post!

Guess this has taught me a lesson....

No, I mean the genuine GHD ones, I recall seeing them being featured on BBC Watchdog.

There were numerous cases of them catching fire.

joanne d, when your straighteners arrive, the plug/wire thingy will have a hologrammed tag attached to it, with a serial number that you can confirm with GHD online or by phone.

Even if they're fakes, they will still have this hologram. Get GHD to confirm/deny that they're real when they arrive.

I think I know the website you're referring to. I was 'caught' out, too. The GHDs I received look fantastic [and have worked very well], but are not genuine, at least according to GHD themselves.

Part of me wonders whether they are official product, but are perhaps stolen by rogue GHD factory workers, or are manufactured using stolen intellectual property and technology. If they're not real, they're a bloody good imitation, even down to the presentation box and the CD-Rom instruction manual!

    Scary, really.
