However, they also have stuff coming in that is quite specialised and often organic or even demeter ( apparently that is even more right on than organic) . I just recently got some demeter apple juice. Also they get lots of gluten free things periodically. It is inevitable that their food is processed- it has a best before date, so can't be freshly picked.
Thanks - I'd been trying to find out what 'demeter' meant!
There is in my experience quite a bit of wholefood such as dried beans available on the site. Yes, loads of junk food, but the same can be said of supermarkets. A huge amount of what's sold as 'food' is actually stuff that we should only have in very limited quantities, otherwise it's bad for us.Not that that stops me... but I find it helps to ask myself whether something is actually what I want me and my kids to be living off. (DH has more self control).
I've only ordered twice: there was a mistake with my first order: most of it was right but stuff I hadn't ordered was included and a couple of bits were missing, but I dealt with the company via email and they were very helpful and gave me a discount off my next order - nice incentive!Yes, I used it, and yes, I've just ordered yet again. This time I've weeded out nearly all the 'junk' food. They do have some great bread mixes and a special on Ainsley Harriott couscous right now that I didn't want to miss.
I gather they have just moved premises but someone must have been up all night because the website was updated this morning - well done! So I guess there might be a few teething problems over the next few days while they find where they put the couscous (ha ha, more likely what got lost under the couscous mountain) but my experience has been good so far.

Anyone for a kilo of salted Japanese plums?
http://www.approvedfood.co.uk/FRUIT_AND_VEG/Clearspring_Organic_Salt_Pickled_plums_with_Shiso_Herb_1kg
They are usually £39!!
WIkipeia says they are more like apricots-
This Japanese style traditional pickle is considered good for digestion, prevention of nausea, and for systemic toxicity, including hangovers. Green ume extract is even used as a tonic in Japan. The citric acid is claimed to act as an antibacterial, help to increase saliva production and assist in the digestion of rice. Additionally, umeboshi is claimed to combat fatigue (historically given as part of a samurai's field ration) and protect against aging.[2]0 -
Does anyone know if approved foods would delivery to work addresses? I would be very pleased if I could get it delivered to me at work, as not to worry about missed deliveries in future (not that I have had any but it does take some organisation to get someone to stay home for the delivery man, unless I can try and time on a day off) thank youWith love, POSR0

I've ordered 6 times now from them & have been really pleased with each order, a couple of times I've ordered junk food, marmite crisps for 5p a pack a while ago. Last weeks order was mainly for the bread flour & bread mix. I used the mix the day, as I'm in the middle of doing up my kitchen & trying to bake bread from scratch is too much of a mission at the mo. The bread from teh mix was lovely. I used 2lbs of mix & made a large loaf & 8 big rolls. If there's any left on the site it was reduced to 89p for 3.5kg.
I also buy couscous, rice & pulses. Plain couscous makes great cakes, a little different in texture but quite nice, from a recipe I got when I was doing slimming world a few years ago.
The large sauce mixes, Homepride & Lloyd Grossman a few months ago were brilliant.
If you're selective with what you buy they are brilliant.0
