My email has not been answered and I have rung numerous times and have yet to receive an answer or even anybody at their HQ.

I e-mailed via the website weeks ago about my order with the fact that most of the tins I ordered where dented.

And I never got a reply. I do understand that things can slip through the gaps when busy. But I doubt that I will order again.

Yours

• Hi all, just discovered this site and i wondered if any of the OS crew had any hints/tips before ordering? Ive seen quite a few things I wouldnt mind stocking up on... :)
• There is a whole thread about them on the Food shopping board on main forum.

Some people are most enthusiastic about them, no longer me unfortunately. Got sick of placing orders based around a few select great bargains only to find they were constantly the ones missing from my order.

Have a look tho. Other have had much better experiences. ;)

We've found the fizzy drinks don't seem to have much fizz left in them, apart from that everything else we've had has been OK.
Just be aware some of the stuff is past the sell by dates, but still usable.

I don;t think you're the only one. Most days there's a thread on here of someone wanting to "use up" an Approved Foods purchase. It's only a bargain if you're going to use it ;) Seems like it's lots of processed foods, too.

I'll move this over to the Grocery Shopping Board :)

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

if you do a search in the Food Shopping & Groceries forum you'll find some older threads, if you fancy a very long read! ;)
• I recently placed an order with Approved foods. The cost of the goods I ordered was approx £10 but postage came to slightly over that so that my order was in excess of £20. I ordered a large bag of dog food that was badly split in 2 places and several cans of peas most of which were very dinted. The jury is out on this one: I'm not sure whether the high postage is acceptable for the lower prices of goods that are already near or passed their best before dates; I have accidently bought a dinted can in the past that has been off when I have opened it so they give me cause for concern; I thought that most of their food was highly processed anyway; I bought several bottles of hair conditioner that I have yet to try but admittedly was very cheap; I havn't completely ruled them out but I am not sure of how good value they really are and I am reserving judgement.

Unless you live in the Highlands or Islands the postage is £5.25 up to 28kg so the £10 carriage charge was probably due to the weight of your items. To be honest I think the £5.25 is extremely reasonable and I doubt they're making any money on it, both of my orders have been just under the 28kg limit since I've changed quantities and removed items to keep me under as I wasn't going to order enough to justify the higher carriage charge.

I thought that most of their food was highly processed anyway; .
They always have lots of highly processed items. However, they also have stuff coming in that is quite specialised and often organic or even demeter ( apparently that is even more right on than organic) . I just recently got some demeter apple juice. Also they get lots of gluten free things periodically. It is inevitable that their food is processed- it has a best before date, so can't be freshly picked.
